WWE now billing SNME match as Goldberg’s final match

The July 12 Saturday Night’s Main Event match between Gunther and Goldberg is now being billed as Goldberg’s final match.

While it was believed to be the case heading into the show, it was only in the press release issued yesterday that WWE formally announced it, saying the show will be “headlined by Goldberg’s final match versus WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.”

The program between the two started back in October of last year at Bad Blood in Atlanta as the two had a confrontation at ringside. As faith would have it, they meet again in the same city and same arena for Goldberg’s final ride.

Goldberg was promised a retirement match by Vince McMahon after Goldberg agreed to face Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia. The match was never honored by the old WWE regime but Triple H and Nick Khan, heading up the new WWE management, agreed to let Goldberg’s story finish as it was once agreed.
