WWE marketing Saturday live events as Saturday Night’s Main Event

WWE is rebranding a few of their non-televised live events which fall on a Saturday and now are marketing them as Saturday Night’s Main Event.

There are two entries – the April 23 show in Montgomery, Alabama, and the April 30 show, in Lakeland, Florida – which are getting this branding. These are the first Saturday live events following WrestleMania and there are no other live events listed yet for the month of May or June.

Both these shows are from the Raw brand with the Alabama show promoting Lashley vs Rollins vs AJ Styles in a triple threat match for the WWE title. Card is obviously subject to change and means nothing at the moment heading into WrestleMania.

WWE has not used the name of Saturday Night’s Main Event since 2008 when they had a few shows airing on NBC on a Saturday night. The specials were a staple back in the late 80s and major angles were shot on those shows.

These events will not be televised and they’re using the brand as a way to spice up ticket sales and making the live event feel a bit more special.
