WWE looking for UK pay-per-view during Labor Day weekend in 2022

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that the Labor Day weekend WWE pay-per-view next year is looking like it will be held in the United Kingdom.

In its published 2022 PPV calendar, WWE lists either a Saturday, September 3 or a Sunday, September 4 pay-per-view from a location to be determined.

That weekend is usually associated with AEW’s All Out pay-per-view in Chicago. This year, AEW held their show on a Sunday but in 2020, the show was held on a Saturday. Holding two wrestling pay-per-views on the same day might not be a smart idea for both companies although WWE’s show would air earlier in the day due to the time zone difference.

London’s Wembley Stadium and Cardiff’s Principality Stadium are still in the running to hold the proposed show, with Cardiff’s stadium preferred simply because it has a roof and weather in London is very unpredictable to hold an open-air event.

UK fans were hoping to get the SummerSlam pay-per-view in 2022 to commemorate the 30th anniversary from SummerSlam 1992 in London but next year’s SummerSlam went to the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
