WWE extends deal with the Amway Center for another month

PWInsider.com is reporting that WWE has extended its contract with the Amway Center for an additional month and will keep the ThunderDome at least through the end of November.

WWE’s original contract with the Amway was going to run out at the end of October and as per the original deal, WWE had to give Amway a two-week notice if they were going to renew or end their partnership. The Amway Center has no events planned for the rest of 2020 so WWE could technically remain there until the end of the year.

Apart from a base lease, WWE is paying $12,500 extra for Sunday shows, $10,000 extra for Monday and another $10,000 for Friday shows, $7,500 for days where WWE works inside the venue, and an additional $2,500 for the rest of the days when the venue is just sitting idle. The base lease seems to be around $200,000.

The original contract also did not allow any fans inside the building so if WWE wants to add fans, a modification on the extension had to be made. Florida is now allowing any stadium or arena to go to 100% capacity after the Governor reopened the state with no COVID-19 restrictions.
