WWE expecting another year of record revenue in 2022

WWE is expecting another year of record revenue in 2022 after yesterday they revealed that the company had, for the first time ever, revenues of over $1 billion in a calendar year.

Frank Riddick, WWE’s Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, said that the record revenue will be driven by the full year impact of ticketed live events, staging of additional large-scale international events, escalation of rights fees for the company’s flagship programs and monetization of new original series.

It was revealed during the conference call that WWE has several new original series in the pipeline that have not been announced yet. WWE is also serving as executive producers of Rowdy’s Places, a six-episode series airing now on ESPN+. Rowdy’s Places is the combat sports-centric expansion of the Peyton Places franchise. Episode two of the show is an interview with Kurt Angle.

Regarding international live events, Nick Khan dropped a hint that there will be more than two large scale events in 2022 and we’ll find out soon about them. WWE currently holds two stadium shows in Saudi Arabia every year – in February and October – and there are rumors that another big show in the United Kingdom will be held this year. WWE also did a big stadium show in Australia a couple of years ago.
