WWE announces the acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA

WWE today announced the surprise acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA in conjunction with Mexican entertainment company Filip.

The announcement came during the Countdown to WrestleMania show as Triple H, surrounded by several of WWE’s Mexican wrestlers along with AAA General Manager Dorian Roldan Pena, AAA President Marisela Pena, Fillip co-founder Alberto Fasja Cohen, and popular star Vikingo.

There were no details regarding the business transaction announced.

This is the first time that WWE purchased another wrestling company since 2001 when they acquired WCW.

“A partnership that will benefit the entire world of sports-entertainment. Lucha Libre AAA has been a cultural mainstay in Mexico and the home to many WWE Superstars,” Triple H wrote on X. “This partnership will guarantee that AAA remains the premier destination for wrestling in Mexico.”

Triple H then thanked Patrick Dooley and Kevin Rohnke from TKO Group for helping to make this possible.
