WWE acquires the video library of the World Wrestling Council

PWInsider.com is reporting that WWE has acquired the video library of the World Wrestling Council, the Puerto Rican promotion owned by WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon and Victor Jovia.

The website adds that WWE got their hands on their library last month and everything has already shipped to the WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, in preparation to be digitized for its newest home, the WWE Network.

The WWC was originally known as Capitol Sports Promotions in 1973 and WWE Hall of Famer Gorilla Monsoon was also involved in it. The name change came in 1983 and the promotion was part of the NWA until 1988.

WWC still airs weekly on WAPA-TV although they just recently resumed new episodes after its headquarters lost power for a long time due to infrastructure damage thanks to Hurricane Maria last year. The wrestlers that formed part of the WWC roster were allowed to work for other promotions as long as they weren’t booked to lose clean.

WWE owns over 25 video libraries from different promotions and eras, some of which are already available on the WWE Network.
