WrestleMania 37 also in jeopardy as Los Angeles Mayor paints grim picture

During his weekly briefing, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti indicated that “large gatherings such as concerts and sporting events may not be approved in the city for at least one year,” in an e-mail reviewed by the Los Angeles Times.

This could spell bad news for WWE as the company has WrestleMania 37 set to take place in LA in March 2021. The other problem is that the huge SoFi Stadium is not ready yet and construction has slowed down due to the pandemic.

Garcetti spokesman Alex Comisar confirmed the mayor’s comments at the meeting. “The mayor was generally referencing studies of current and historical data and best practices for safely reopening our economy,” Comisar told the Times.

The mayor has made it clear that it would be a mistake to reopen Los Angeles for normal business before this pandemic could be fully controlled and the plan is to reopen in phases, starting with essential businesses and small businesses with a timeline of up to 10 months.
