Triple threat match for NXT Women’s title set for Takeover 33

The NXT Women’s title will be on the line at the upcoming Takeover on February 14 in a triple threat match as it was announced yesterday that champion Io Shirai will be defending the belt against Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez.

This will be Shirai’s first title defense since November 18, 2020 when she took on Rhea Ripley on an episode of NXT on USA Network. Shirai won the 22-minute match.

Despite the show being just two weeks away, this is actually the first match which has been promoted to take part of the broadcast. There’s no name yet for this Takeover and it’s simply being referred to as NXT Takeover 33.
