Tony D’Angelo becomes the new NXT champion at Stand & Deliver

After five years in NXT, Tony D’Angelo has finally won the big one and was crowned the new NXT champion last night at Stand & Deliver.

The 30-year-old Illinois native defeated champion Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints, and Ethan Page in a fatal four-way match in the main event of the PLE, which aired on YouTube in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.

The ending of the match came when Hendry went for his Standing Ovation finisher but D’Angelo got out of it and speared Hendry. He then hit his Death to Rights chokeslam on the Scotsman for the three count victory.

D’Angelo has been signed to WWE since February 2021 and has always been part of the NXT roster. While he has previously won the NXT North American and the NXT Tag Team titles, he always failed to win the main title until last night.

This win brought to an end Hendry’s reign after just 60 days. There are rumors that Hendry will soon be called up to the main roster.
