Three matches teased for NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver

With one match officially announced, three more were teased for Takeover: Stand & Deliver. The show, which will be a two-night event, will have the largest card ever for a Takeover, which is usually capped at five.

A unification of the NXT Cruiserweight titles was teased during the broadcast. There are currently two Cruiserweight champions, with NXT UK star Jordan Devlin and Santos Escobar. Devlin was the original champion but when the pandemic hit in early 2020, he was restricted to just the UK and couldn’t travel to Florida to defend the gold. Rather than stripping him off the title, NXT held a tournament to crown another champ, which Escobar won.

Devlin appeared last night on NXT and Escobar challenged him for a match at Takeover. Things also got physical with Devlin attacking Escobar and escaping the rest of the Legado del Fantasma to walk out unscratched.

NXT Women’s champion Io Shirai is on a path to take out Raquel Gonzalez and after Dakota Kai beat Zoey Stark on NXT, Shirai came out and delivered what looked like a match contract in a folder to Gonzalez. Shirai then helped Stark to the back while also showing everyone who the champ is.

And the third match teased was Ciampa vs Walter. Ciampa wrestled Marcel Barthel but after he won the match, the NXT UK champion came out for his first appearance in over a year and along with Imperium, beat down the former NXT champion.
