Sting appears on ESPN SportsCenter with Jonathan Coachman

As part of ESPN SportsCenter On The Road, Jonathan Coachman welcomed Sting this morning on the show live from the AT&T Stadium.

Coach asked Sting what was it like to be inducted in the Hall of Fame last night and then announcing his retirement. He said it was a very difficult moment as the crowd kept chanting “one more match” and he wanted to have that one more match but he knows it’s time to retire due to several different reasons.

The discussion turned to his final match, against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. He said the injury happened after a whiplash and actually felt it on two different occasions. The first time he felt numbness and shock down his fingers and then the second time his legs completely lost control and explained the technical terms of his injury.

Coach talked about WrestleMania 31 and how cool it was to see him there. Sting said he wrestled in so many big arenas and in front of thousands of people but there is nothing like WrestleMania. Before he went out, Stephanie McMahon told him to just “take it all in” and described it as a great experience and something he will never ever forget.

Sting then mentioned Ric Flair and how he put him on the map when he didn’t have to. He said the Nature Boy means everything to him and pretty much made his career.

Before wrapping things up, Sting went over how he met Vince McMahon for the first time. He said he had phone conversations with him over the years but the night he made his debut at the Survivor Series he was stuck in a bus to keep him hidden and then came out a few minutes before it was his time to show up. Vince told him that it was good to have him there and then knocked him for having grey facial hair.

The Rock will be on ESPN SportsCenter later today with Jonathan Coachman.
