SNICKERS piled pressure on WWE to alter the women’s battle royal name

It was not just the fans who were angry about the use of The Fabulous Moolah’s name being attached to the women’s battle royal at WrestleMania, but it turns out that WrestleMania’s main sponsor, SNICKERS, also piled pressure on WWE to disassociate themselves from the name.

“We were recently made aware of the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc’s (WWE) decision to honor a former wrestler during the upcoming WrestleMania 34 event,” a statement from Snickers read. “As a principle-based business that has long championed creating inclusive environments that encourage and empower everyone to reach their full potential, this is unacceptable. We are engaging with the WWE to express our disappointment.”

Yesterday, after much bad press and fan backlash, WWE did a complete 180 and decided to remove Moolah’s name from the match, renaming it to simply WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.

Following WWE’s decision to rename the battle royal, SNICKERS sent out another statement, saying that they are pleased that WWE has decided to change the name.
