Samoa Joe returns to NXT as Regal’s enforcer

Samoa Joe made his return to WWE yesterday, debuting as the new enforcer for William Regal on NXT.

The NXT General Manager offered Joe his job but Joe turned it down and said that he wants to work with him. Regal agreed on two particular conditions: the first is that Joe would not be an active member of the NXT roster and the second is that he can’t put his hands on anyone…unless he’s provoked first.

All this was happening while NXT champion Karrion Kross was in the ring and berating Regal. After Joe agreed to the two conditions, the new enforcer told Kross to tick tock out of the ring.

Joe did get physical in his first night as later in the broadcast, he broke up a fight between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly. The former NXT champion pushed Joe hard and Cole ended up in the Coquina Clutch for his trouble.

Joe was released from WWE just days after WrestleMania and was nearing his 90-day no-compete clause finish. Concussion-related problems have kept the former NXT champion on the sidelines since early 2020.
