Samoa Joe re-signs with WWE, assigned role with NXT

Samoa Joe has re-signed with WWE according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer and has been assigned a role with NXT.

Joe was released just after WrestleMania in one of the many surprise cuts that took place this year. He had been doing commentary for Raw since early last year when concussion-related problems kept him out of the ring for an extended period of time. Meltzer says that Joe has not been cleared to return to the ring but his new duties will include working behind-the-scenes with NXT and a possible on-screen role as well.

At the end of Takeover last night, William Regal said something has got to change due to the numerous brawls that have been taking place at NXT lately and it’s rumored that Joe will take over the NXT on-screen General Manager role starting tomorrow.

Joe’s run in NXT included two stints as NXT champion before he was called to the main roster.
