You better acknowledge your Tribal Chief as Roman Reigns today reached a big milestone – 1,000 consecutive days as champion.
Reigns won the Universal title back at the Payback event on August 30, 2020 inside the WWE ThunderDome, defeating Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt in a triple threat match just a week after making his surprise return at SummerSlam.
At WrestleMania last year, he also defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE championship, becoming the undisputed champion and has carried both belts ever since.
Reigns’ impressive title reign saw him defend the title(s) against WWE’s top dogs, including the likes of Brock Lesnar, John Cena, AJ Styles, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Riddle, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, Edge, and others.
The 38-year-old is now gunning for Pedro Morales’ 1,027-day reign with the title, which is certainly within reach. His next records would take a bit of more work though, with Bruno Sammartino’s at 1,237 days, Bob Backlund’s at 1,470 days, and Hulk Hogan’s at 1,474 days.
Even though he is now not appearing every week as before, Reigns remains as popular as ever as the leader of The Bloodline and today he has a chance of adding more titles to his waist and shoulders as he teams up with his cousin Solo Sikoa to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
Can “Roman four belts” become a reality? It certainly is a possibility.
