Roman Reigns beats the Brock Lesnar curse and wins the WWE Universal title

The big dog has finally reclaimed his yard and Brock Lesnar, after 504 days as champion, finds himself without a title around his waist.

It took four tries – WrestleMania 31, WrestleMania 33, The Greatest Royal Rumble, and this year’s SummerSlam – for Reigns to be able to defeat Brock Lesnar clean. Reigns, who often finds himself on the receiving end of pretty stiff beatings from the former UFC champion, beat Lesnar with a spear and a relatively speedy match for a main event.

Reigns started the match quickly, delivering multiple Superman punches and spears, but when he went for the cover, Lesnar caught him in a guillotine choke, but Reigns managed to power out on both occasions.

The match had Braun Strowman waiting outside with his MITB briefcase after he promised to cash in as soon as the match was over but Lesnar beat up Strowman during the match and threw his MITB briefcase all the way from ringside up the ramp, cracking the massive LED screen in the process. With Strowman down and the briefcase out of reach following the pinfall, the cash-in never happened and the pay-per-view faded to black with Reigns and his Universal title.

Daniel Cormier, who will be facing Lesnar in the UFC in the beginning of next year, taunted the now former Universal champion for “looking smaller.” He then said that when the two meet, the result will be the same, a loss for Lesnar.
