Ric Flair discusses John Cena joining him in the ’16 club’

“Nature Boy” Ric Flair acknowledged Cena’s impressive feat, tweeting a congratulatory message to the new champ.

“Congrats on #16 @JohnCena! Never Forget…To be the man, you gotta beat the man – WOOOOO!” He then posted a photo with Cena, who was holding the new title.

Flair was also interviewed by WWE.COM afterward. Flair said that he was one of John’s biggest fans, both as a human being and a wrestler. He said he’s been the flagship for the company for a very long time and if there was someone who was going to tie – and eventually break – his record, he’s glad that it is John Cena.

Cena celebrated his 16th title win by going among the fans and placing the WWE title on the shoulder of a young fan who was wearing the Make-A-Wish Foundation t-shirt. Cena is the Foundation’s most requested person and has granted more wishes than any celebrity on the planet.
