Rhea Ripley undergoes surgery for meniscus tear

It looks like Chelsea Green is about to be upgraded from interim WWE Women’s champion to straight up WWE Women’s champion!

The current champion, Rhea Ripley, wrote on X that she underwent surgery, posting a photo of her right knee in a brace.

“Life update. After just under 14 year in wrestling and doing sports my entire life… It’s caught up to me,” she wrote. “Surgery was never a first option for me, but it got to the point that it was needed…”

Ripley, who won the WWE Women’s title at WrestleMania, last wrestled in the beginning of June and has been out of action ever since.

“I’ve survived, now it’s time to start thriving again so I can get back to what I love to do! See you all down the road,” she added.

WWE crowned an interim women’s champion at SummerSlam, with Chelsea Green winning a five-way ladder match. Unlike other WWE Superstars who were injured, Ripley was never stripped off the title, but it looks like there will be no other option following this news.
