Orlando ready if WrestleMania 33 comes to the city in 2017

Allen Johnson, the Executive Director of Orlando Venues, told the Miami Herald that the city is ready for another WrestleMania, with the Citrus Bowl in much better shape than when WWE hosted Mania there in 2008.

“I think we’re ready for it,” Johnson said. “We’re prepared to whatever year they decide to come back. We’re ready for them, and we now have the infrastructure in place to accommodate it much better than before, and they know that. They’ve toured the stadium. They’ve been here and seen what we now are capable of versus what we were capable of. That gets us in the conversation to host one of those events.”

The recent $207 million renovation of the Citrus Bowl gave the stadium a brand new lower bowl, new seats and better amenities. WrestleMania XXIV still holds the attendance record of 74,366 for the Citrus Bowl.

“We have the infrastructure that appeals to both the domestic and international traveler,” Johnson added. “Between the airports, the world class attractions, world class lodging, all those help us and assist us in securing events of this caliber.”

WWE has still not made a decision on which city will hold WrestleMania 33. At one point, Minneapolis was the front runner but according to various reports, Orlando has skipped the line and is now in pole position to land their first WrestleMania after 9 years.
