NXT Takeover 36 taking place on the night after SummerSlam

The next NXT Takeover, so far titled just Takeover 36, will be taking place on Sunday, August 22 at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida, the night after SummerSlam in Las Vegas.

This will be the first time that a Takeover will be taking place after a WWE pay-per-view as usually it’s Takeover on the Saturday and the WWE pay-per-view on the Sunday. But with SummerSlam this time happening on a Saturday on the request of the Allegiant Stadium, NXT will take the Sunday billing.

The main match headlining the show is being built around NXT champion Karrion Kross and Samoa Joe. Joe, who has not wrestled since February 2020, got his first taste of in-ring action last week when he was choked out by Kross. The feud between the two continued last night on NXT on USA Network when Kross laid out NXT General Manager William Regal, leaving Joe fuming.
