NXT General Manager Ava departs the company

In somewhat unexpected news, NXT General Manager Ava announced that she has departed the company and will no longer be appearing on NXT.

“This past Tuesday was my last appearance on NXT & subsequently WWE. Thank you to all who have cheered, watched, and supported me through my journey,” she wrote. “While my decision to not renew my contract was very difficult, it’s also new turning point in my life. It has been an honor & a privilege to be Ava. I loved being your mayor. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Ava is the daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and has been part of the company since 2020, first as a trainee at the WWE Performance Center and then as Ava Raine as part of Joe Gacy’s Schism faction. In 2024, she was appointed as the on-screen general manager for NXT.

“WWE thanks and applauds Simone Garcia Johnson for her stellar work as Ava and beyond,” WWE wrote in a statement. “Her passion, dedication, and impact were felt across the entire NXT and WWE community. We wish her the very best in all future endeavors.”
