Triple H unveiled and presented the new WWE World Tag Team titles to champions Awesome Truth last night on Raw, effectively ending the Raw and Smackdown Tag Team titles.

The World Tag Team titles, featuring a similar design of the men’s and women’s World titles but having a round center plate, will take the Raw Tag Team titles lineage.

The Raw and Smackdown Tag Team titles were introduced in the Summer of 2016 featuring the Spartan helmets on the center plate, a design which was universally hated by wrestling fans. The same design was part of the WWE Tag Team titles and made its debut in August 2010.

Later in the show, DIY defeated The New Day and The Creed Brothers in a triple threat match to become the number one contenders for the titles.
