Two new NXT champions were crowned last night at No Mercy as Ilja Dragunov became the new NXT champion and Trick Williams won the NXT North American title.

Ilja Dragunov beat champion Carmelo Hayes in one of the two main events following a hard-hitting 21-minute match. It was Ilja’s second go at the title after he lost his first one at The Great American Bash.

Hayes’ reign lasted 182 days after he won the title at Stand & Deliver in Los Angeles from Bron Breakker. Dragunov becomes the first star to win both the NXT UK and NXT titles.

Meanwhile, Hayes’ sidekick Trick Williams won the NXT North American title after he beat Dominik Mysterio earlier in the night. This is Williams’ first run with a title in NXT and originally he was not even supposed to be in the match as the released Mustafa Ali was scheduled for it.

Judgment Day’s Mysterio had a 74-day run with the title after he won it on an episode of NXT in July when he beat Wes Lee. His matches and appearances on NXT TV bumped up the viewership when he appeared so that experiment at least paid dividends.
