Minneapolis rumored again to host WrestleMania in 2020

There are strong rumors again that WWE will announce the location of WrestleMania 36 later this month during a stop in Minneapolis, Minnesota for Smackdown Live.

Despite a rich wrestling history, Minneapolis has never hosted a WrestleMania and the city was very close to host WrestleMania 33. The EVP of the Minnesota Vikings Stadium said in August 2015 that the city was about to welcome WrestleMania and the new stadium was going to play host. WWE however shot down the rumor a day later saying that while Minneapolis was bidding to host their annual extravaganza, they didn’t choose the winning bid yet.

Eventually, WrestleMania 33 went to the city of Orlando where the team behind the bid managed their second WrestleMania win in nine years.

The Vikings Stadium opened for business in September 2016 and can seat up to 73,000 fans in a football setting.
