After a short stint being part of the Retribution faction, Mercedes Martinez returned to NXT last night and attacked NXT Women’s champion Io Shirai.

Martinez made her presence felt after attacking Shirai from behind, destroying her as Shirai waited for Toni Storm after she called her out. Shirai was thrown around like a rag doll at ringside before she was sent through the announce table.

Martinez has not been seen on NXT television since September and was added to Retribution using the name Retaliation. However, just a month later, a decision was taken to remove her from the group and was not replaced. Her last time on NXT, Martinez wrestled Rhea Ripley in a steel cage match.

The 39-year-old Connecticut native has been wrestling for the past 20 years and joined WWE earlier this year.
