Kayla Braxton refutes reports that she had talks with AEW

Kayla Braxton, the WWE backstage correspondent who is in her final week with WWE, has refuted a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that she talked with AEW.

On the latest episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that there was “definitely” talk between her and AEW, adding that Braxton “could see the handwriting on the wall” when it was clear that Cathy Kelley and Jackie Redmond were the two preferred for WWE television.

“So she was number three. So I think by that, she kind of could see maybe it’s time to go somewhere else,” Meltzer said.

But in a post on X, Braxton, real name Kayla Becker, shot down Meltzer’s words, saying that if she wanted to keep working in wrestling, she would not have walked away from the largest wrestling company in the world.

“Nice try, rumor weeds,” she added, posting a GIF which says “Nice try Jan!”

Braxton said that the support she has received ever since she announced her time is up in WWE has been overwhelming and she was thankful for everyone.

She is wrapping up her WWE duties this coming Friday with Smackdown in Madison Square Garden.
