Kane considering running for mayor seat in Knox County

NBC affiliate WBIR 10News in Knoxville is carrying a story about WWE Superstar Kane and the possibility of him running for the Knox County mayoral seat in 2018 under the Republican banner.

The man behind the character, Glen Jacobs, said he is “seriously considering” but will make a final decision after the upcoming presidential election toward the end of the year. He has already met with people in the community as well as the Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, to get their feedback.

“Yes, I’ve talked about it with some folks but there’s nothing too solid yet,” he told WBIR 10News. “Mayor Burchett’s term is coming up and I think he’s been really good for Knox County.”

Jacobs said he cares for this community and that’s the only reason he would consider getting into any sort of government. “And I think it’s incumbent upon people who care about the communities to try to make a difference,” the 49 year old said.
