After Raw went off the air and all the mayhem cleared, CM Punk, The Usos, and Cody Rhodes stuck around and Punk took the lead, putting over John Cena on his final night on Raw.
“When I first came up to the main roster in 2006, John Cena was on top. It was then a few years later joined by Cody Rhodes and John Cena was on top. A couple years after that, the Usos showed up on the main roster and John Cena was on top,” Punk said.
“I’ve been to this building dozens of times from then until now and John Cena has always been on top and tonight we all witness history,” he continued. “A special moment, John Cena got to perform in the world’s most famous arena in front of the greatest fans for one more time. It’s a special moment, it’s emotional for me, I think I can speak for everybody in the ring, it’s emotional for all of us because when we started here, John Cena was here, he was steering the boat.”
He said that now, Cody Rhodes is steering that same boat and the two twins who started off doing Hakas trying to find their way in WWE at the time are now steering the boat too.
“It’s about John Cena, thank you Cena. And it kills me to say this because I used to have to lay here and look at the lights and listen to that damn song,” Punk said referring to Cena’s iconic theme song.
He then instructed the guys in the back to finish off the night by not playing his song, but rather John Cena’s.
