John Cena announces the John Cena Classic one-night event

John Cena announced at Backlash the creation of the John Cena Classic, a one-night event featuring WWE Superstars taking on NXT talent where the audience will have their say on who would be crowned the John Cena Classic champion.

Cena said that the idea was born after the Saturday Night’s Main Event which had his final match, where Sol Ruca, Je’Von Evans, and Oba Femi were all featured and made a big splash.

The 17-time champ noted that he’s putting a lot of effort into this project especially since his name is attached to it. He mentioned that everyone who will be part of the show could eventually end up champion, even those who lose their match.

Cena gave no date or location where the John Cena Classic will take place but it did sound like it will be a new premium live event on the WWE calendar.
