Irish Councillor to present case to government to bring WrestleMania to Ireland

Everyone wants WrestleMania in their city and now you can add the country of Ireland to the list as one of its Councillors is trying to get the Showcase of Immortals on Irish shores.

Kilkenny Councillor Maurice Shortall said that the country would be an excellent venue for WrestleMania and will pitch his bid to the government to try and make it real.

“As a globally recognised event with the capacity to attract tens of thousands of international visitors and generate substantial international media exposure, WrestleMania presents a significant opportunity for Ireland to strengthen its position as a leading destination for major event tourism,” Shortall told the Irish Mirror newspaper.

Noting that big sporting events happen in the country on many occasions, including an NFL game at Croke Park, Shortall thinks that bringing WrestleMania to Ireland would have huge benefits for the entire country.

“Ireland is well placed to present a credible and competitive bid for WrestleMania, given our strong international tourism brand, proven track record in hosting major events, and global reputation as a welcoming destination,” he continued.

The first WrestleMania outside North America will take place next year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
