Hulk Hogan opens up about meeting WWE Superstars backstage at Extreme Rules

Hulk Hogan revealed the details of his meeting with the WWE Superstars at Extreme Rules, three years after he got fired for racial slurs. Hogan was talking about it with Bill Apter for his new podcast The Apter Chat.

Hogan said that for a year and a half after he got fired, no one from WWE contacted him until Triple H reached out via a text message one day to ask how he was doing. After conversations with Triple H, Hogan eventually got to talk to Vince McMahon who offered him to come and talk to the African-American athletes.

The Hulkster refused to only talk to them and instead wanted to talk to everyone as he said he not only hurt black people, but all the people who work for the company no matter what color or race they are.

Hogan said that a lot of people accepted his apology but was disappointed that some of them thought he’s only apologizing because he was caught on camera. “A lot of the narrative was really different. I was surprised to hear some people interpreted what I said…you know…that I was just sorry because I got caught on camera or whatever they interpreted…but I never said that,” Hogan said.

He then said that some of the wrestlers don’t understand the brotherhood that is part of the business and feels like they should give him a chance.

“In this case, it’s a situation where 75…80…90% of the wrestlers are protecting me and they’re giving me another chance to move forward,” Hogan said. “But there are just a few wrestlers that kinda don’t understand the bond and the brotherhood of wrestling. If someone makes a mistake, you need to forgive them and move on and try to let them prove themselves.”

The New Day and Titus O’Neil are the ones who so far publicly came out saying they’re not believing his apology yet and while they have no problem with Hogan being in the WWE Hall of Fame again, they won’t make any effort until they see genuine change in him.
