El Grande Americano wins the AAA Mega Championship at Triplemania 34

El Grande Americano won the AAA Mega Championship last night at Triplemania 34: Mexico City in front of a sold-out crowd at Arena CDMX.

This is Americano’s first singles major title, even for the man behind the mask, Ludwig Kaiser.

Americano had to overcome interference from Omos, Dorian Roldan, JD McDonagh, and even former WWE Women’s World champion Liv Morgan, who all tried to help Dominik Mysterio retain the title.

But it was WWE Hall of Famer and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio who helped end his son’s reign after he came out in a referee t-shirt to make the decisive three-count after Americano hit Dom with a running headbutt.

The super-over Americano was cheered by the Mexican crowd and the whole arena sang Cielito Lindo with a mariachi band playing to finish off the event.

Dominik Mysterio held on to the title for 366 days, winning it from El Hijo del Vikingo on September 12, 2025 at Worlds Collide: Las Vegas.
