D-Von Dudley prevented from appearing at an ECW tribute event by WWE

D-Von Dudley, who was set to be part of the Battleground Championship Wrestling’s A Tribute to the Extreme event this past Saturday night in Philadelphia, was prevented from appearing by WWE. He was also supposed to be part of the Icons of Wrestling convention held in conjunction with the show but was also not allowed to be participate.

Speaking to PWInsider.com, BCW said that they received a legal letter from WWE for using a variation of the ECW intellectual property which WWE owns and then pulled D-Von from the show. According to BCW, Dudley reached out to Paul Levesque to try and overturn the decision but he was not able to.

In a statement, Icons of Wrestling said that D-Von was devastated that he could not appear as advertised and it was beyond their control that it didn’t happen.

“Currently I’m hesitant to put the reasoning in writing but I will have zero hesitation telling the entire wrestling world why this happened inside the ring,” the statement read. “To those who made this decision you will not deter us. You will not stop us. You may think you have control but rest assured you do not.”

D-Von is employed by WWE where he works as a coach for the NXT brand.
