Cody Rhodes says he didn’t leave AEW because of Bucks, Omega, or Punk

Addressing a fan who tweeted that Cody Rhodes left AEW because of the other members of The Elite, the former TNT champion shot down that common misconception and denied he left the promotion he helped found because of them or even due to CM Punk’s arrival.

“I didn’t leave because of the Bucks/Kenny,” Rhodes replied.

“I’m forever bonded to those men over what we created and I remain very proud of it, and I didn’t leave because of/or have issues with Punk. We got along,” he wrote.

Rhodes continued, “Not money, not booking, just a personal issue and my wanting to go for the big one.”

The “big one” Cody is referring to is the WWE championship, something that no one in his family has ever captured.
