PWInsider.com broke the news that former AEW champion CM Punk was briefly backstage at Monday Night Raw last night in Chicago.

Punk’s arrival was certainly a surprise and the very controversial figure did briefly meet with Triple H according to the website and confirmed by other sources. Punk also met with other WWE Superstars during his short time at the Allstate Arena.

However, when Vince McMahon got wind that Punk was there, he instructed security to ask him to leave due to him being under contract with AEW. Security informed Punk of the decision and Punk politely left without any problems after being notified.

This is the first time that Punk had any interaction backstage at a WWE show since the 2014 Royal Rumble, his last appearance for the promotion.
