Charlotte avoids Lynch subject during interview: “Number one doesn’t talk about number two”

In her first interview since Becky Lynch opened the floodgates on the MMA Hour this week, Smackdown Women’s champion Charlotte Flair appeared on The Masked Man show to do some WWE promotion but also steered away from talking openly about what happened with Becky, saying she feels like she’s the only adult in the room and doesn’t want to use these promotional interviews to dump on other people.

Flair said that she has been on top for six years and knows the pressure and criticism that comes along with it but she said she stayed true to herself, acknowledging that she wouldn’t be where she is today without the likes of Nikki Bella, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Bayley who helped her along the way.

Indirectly talking about Lynch and avoid the subject, Flair said, “Well, number one doesn’t talk about number two,” and said that she’s an easy target and has been an easy target since day one because there’s a lot that comes along with carrying the Flair name.

“I am also a human being,” Charlotte said, adding that for the past several years, the audience has been told that she’s entitled, she’s Ric’s daughter, she’s a 12-time champion etc. “Ashley, the human, just wants to live her dream for her brother and succeed, and I think people can’t turn that off,” she continued.

She repeated the fact that she’s in this business not because of her father, but because of her brother and no other reason. “The reason I don’t put down others is because I know what it’s like to be torn down every single day. Every single day, someone wants to take away my success,” Flair said, mentioning how people often say that success was handed to her or she won because she’s Ric Flair’s daughter.

“No one can accept the fact that if my last name wasn’t Flair, I would still be the best athlete in this company, man or woman. It’s not even close, but I still live with that every single day. I don’t take down somebody else’s success to make myself bigger or feel better,” Flair continued.
