Broken right collarbone to keep Asuka out of action for up to 8 weeks

Asuka’s NXT Women’s title reign might be in jeopardy after the Empress of Tomorrow suffered a broken right collarbone during her match against Ember Moon on Saturday night at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III.

The injury did not stop her from continuing on with the match, although she was in considerable pain and discomfort. She eventually won with the Asuka lock, defending her title in yet another match.

“We performed an initial ultrasound backstage that was highly suspicious of a break that was later confirmed by an X-Ray,” said ringside physician Dr. Jeffrey Westerfield.

There’s no timetable for her return although the typical recovery time is 6-8 weeks assuming everything goes according to plan.

WWE has not yet decided what to do with the title. She can be either stripped off the belt or else wait till the next NXT Takeover in November during Survivor Series weekend where she should be able to defend it.
