Blake Monroe discusses being almost cast for Love Island UK on The Nikki & Brie Show

WWE star Blake Monroe recently appeared on SiriusXM’s The Nikki and Brie Show.

During the interview, Blake Monroe opened up about being approached twice to be on “Love Island” and revealed that she is currently in a relationship, while Nikki Garcia shared that she almost hosted the show. Blake also discusses her wrestling journey, navigating online hate and more.

Blake Monroe & Nikki Garcia discuss almost being on “Love Island” (17:06-19:45)

Nikki Garcia: Wait, you were on “Love Island?”

Blake Monroe: No.

Nikki Garcia: Okay. You were going to be on “Love Island.” What’s going on here because there’s a lot of headlines.

Blake Monroe: Yeah, and it’s all wrong obviously and I’m sure like it will come from this and be wrong. So, I got asked to be on “Love Island” when I was like 19. The British one. 18 or 19

Nikki Garcia: Which UK is the best.

Blake Monroe: It is the best, and back then though, that was when it was very unfiltered and I just didn’t do it ‘causeI really-

Nikki Garcia: What season would it have been?

Blake Monroe: Three or four or something.

Nikki Garcia: Oh wow. Those were good.

Blake Monroe: They were good. Two was my favorite. Two was like Alex, Olivia. It was so real.

Nikki Garcia: Oh, I loved that season. I started at two. I didn’t start at one.

Blake Monroe: You should watch. One’s not polished enough. Two they hit it right, and then I feel like it becomes more produced, which I get. But I felt like I was very young. I was 19, which I know now younger people go on, but back then there was only one girl who went on when she was 19 and it wasn’t great. It wasn’t great for her and my biggest dream in life and back then I was very tunnel vision, was like, “I want to be a WWE superstar and I don’t think this is a good idea.” I mean, because they were doing things on TV which I would not want to do, but I wouldn’t do anyway and I just didn’t think it was a fit, and then a couple years ago I was already in America and they had reached out again about it and everyone’s like, “Yeah, you could do it,” and I was torn because I’m insane. If I liked a guy and like you’re selling me a dream, and then you make out with my friend in a challenge, and the American one is intense. I don’t think I’ve got all that in me. The things they were doing, I would actually probably throw him into the pool. I don’t think it would be a good move, and then I fell in love and couldn’t go on to “Love Island” ‘cause I found it myself.

Nikki Garcia: Which is the best way to find it.

Blake Monroe: Yeah. It didn’t work out, so yeah.

Nikki Garcia: That is wild. Well, you know, when they were bringing the USA “Love Island,” Ariel ended up being the host, but it was between me and her and if she wasn’t going to say yes, I would have been the host for “Love Island USA.”

Blake Monroe: I could see that for you, and then imagine if I was on it.

Nikki Garcia: I mean, that would have been so cool. I wasn’t prepared enough for my audition, but they knew what I could do.

Blake Monroe: Yeah. That would suit you so much.

Nikki Garcia: Oh, yeah, and it was in such a great era. It was right after “Dancing with the Stars” and all that kind of stuff, but yeah. If I was the backup, that would have been really cool.
