Big Cass fired from WWE

In a short statement on WWE.COM, it was announced that William Morrissey, better known to fans as Big Cass, has been fired and released from his contract effective immediately.

“WWE has come to terms on the release of William Morrissey (Big Cass),” the statement said, lacking the usual good luck in future endeavors part.

The 30-year-old New York native has been employed by WWE since 2011, first wrestling at Florida Championship Wrestling and then NXT. He formed a team with Enzo Amore in 2013 and the duo became one of the most popular tag teams at the WWE developmental territory.

Big Cass joined the main roster on the Raw after WrestleMania 32 along with Amore, confronting the Dudley Boyz. The two were eventually split up and started a feud together until Cass suffered a torn ACL on the Raw the night after SummerSlam 2017, keeping him out of action for eight months.

He was moved to Smackdown as part of the Superstar Shake-Up earlier this year and a month ago he got in trouble for going off script while in an angle with a little person on the show. Cass was punished by being taken off the MITB qualifying match although he was added again a few weeks later. His feud with Daniel Bryan wrapped up at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view where he tapped out, his second loss to Daniel Bryan after Backlash.
