Local promoter still gets paid for two cancelled Impact Wrestling events

A promoter who was engaged by Impact Wrestling to be the local promoter for the now-cancelled Lockdown and March Breakdown events posted a story on Reddit how he got paid anyway by the company for the service even though the shows never took place.

The story, by Reddit user impactdrumboy, said that he “silently cried” when the shows were cancelled and refunded everyone’s tickets. “Today, I check my account and Impact paid me for both shows even though they didn’t happen. You have no idea how appreciated and needed this was. If I never promote or announce another Impact Wrestling show again, will always be thankful to them for this selfless act,” he wrote.

Asked by another user what being a local promoter for a much larger company such as Impact Wrestling, he said that they design the tickets and posters, print them, set up local ticket outlets, set up online sales, order chairs, buy Facebook ads, do email blasts to previous buyers, and contact charities and clubs about group ticket plans. “I’ve been doing event promoting for several years now, the first event I did for them was Bound For Glory 2006 and whenever they come to the Detroit/Windsor area, I get to help,” he said.
