AEW Rampage last week drew 425,000 viewers, up 27,000 viewers from last week’s show which aired almost at midnight. The show did a 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demo, up 0.01 from last week as well. Both numbers were the lowest in the history of the show when it comes to the show’s regular time slot. NCAA basketball also aired head-to-head with Rampage last Friday. Owens/Austin to headline WrestleMania Saturday
During his segment last night on Raw, Kevin Owens announced that the KO Show confrontation with Stone Cold Steve Austin will be main eventing WrestleMania Saturday.
If this ends up being the final plan it would mean that it’s the first time in 38 years that a non-match would be closing WrestleMania. WWE is hyping this as a confrontation although there are still some rumors floating around that it will be much more than that come Saturday night.
Austin has not wrestled since WrestleMania 19 and is said to be in top physical condition. Ending WrestleMania with Steve Austin is the smartest thing to do and this would avoid a repeat of what happened at WrestleMania 18 when WWE chose to close the show with Triple H vs Chris Jericho rather than Hulk Hogan vs The Rock, which was the most anticipated match of the show.
WWE moved thousands of more tickets to WrestleMania when Austin’s involvement was announced so clearly fans are looking forward to the return of the Rattlesnake.
Speaking of WrestleMania Saturday, Seth Rollins’ match against the mystery opponent has also been moved to the first night after originally it was scheduled for WrestleMania Sunday.
Tony Khan and MJF in heated meeting over interview with Ariel Helwani
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling reported on his Select service that AEW President Tony Khan and MJF had a heated discussion over the interview MJF did with Ariel Helwani on the Ariel Helwani Show last week.
The interview got a lot of talk because MJF said that he will not re-sign with AEW before his contract expires unless they give him an astronomical amount of money and will certainly go to the highest bidder when his deal is up in the beginning of 2024.
One of the major reasons for the “heat” is because MJF did not clear the interview with AEW and the discussion about his contract status did not sit well with Khan. The two had a conversation during the weekend, a talk which left both men frustrated with one another.
Despite the setback, the issue is now considered to be settled and everything should be business as usual.
Paul Heyman signs new long-term deal with WWE
One of WWE’s most valuable players, Paul Heyman, revealed in an interview with the Sports Media podcast with Richard Deitsch that he signed a new long-term deal with WWE last year.
Heyman noted that he’s not the kind who likes to negotiate in public even though it was public knowledge that his deal was up last year.
“This much I will say…I re-signed with WWE last year,” Heyman said. “It was a long-term agreement and they created a situation where I would have been a fool not to take them up on their offer. So…I’m locked in for a while!”
The special counsel to The Tribal Chief also added that his WWE deal allows him to do outside projects which he thinks will be to WWE benefit as well.
“I do have outside projects just because I like to multi-task and I’m very ADD and I just can’t concentrate on one thing at a time ever in my life,” Heyman said, also noting that he would never do anything which would betray his relationship with the company after they went out of their way to make sure he stays with them.
“I’m happy, I’m locked in and we are mutually satisfied with each other’s contributions to the coffer,” he concluded.
Charles Oliveira hoping to make it 11 wins in a row at UFC 274

UFC 274 is taking shape nicely, with several major fights already confirmed. The event is scheduled to take place in Phoenix at the Footprint Center, home of the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. Brazil’s Charles Oliveira will headline the event, which is scheduled for May 9, in his lightweight title bout against Justin Gaethje and it’s sure to be an exciting fight. It will be the last of at least nine already confirmed fights on the night, including Donald Cerrone vs Joe Lauzon, Michael Chandler vs Tony Ferguson, and Mauricio Rua vs Ovince Saint Preux. With a while to go until the big event, fans are eagerly anticipating an entertaining night of UFC action.
Oliveira’s Career so far
Charles Oliveira came into the UFC in 2010, after a mixed martial arts record of 12-0 that he built up in various competitions in his homeland. He won his first two UFC fights against Darren Elkins and Efrain Escudero with relative ease before losing to Jim Miller by submission at UFC 124. His next fight against Nik Lentz on the Kongo vs Barry undercard just two months later ended with a no-contest after an illegal knee from Oliveira.
His next 15 fights were riddled with inconsistency, which lead to a run of 8 wins and 7 losses, speaking both to his talent and his deficiencies. After losing to Paul Felder at UFC 218 in 2017, Oliveira left his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu focused Macaco Gold Team gym and joined The Chute Boxe Academy to improve his striking skills. Since then, he has won 10 straight fights with no defeats in that time, including wins against some of the division’s top fighters.
Oliveira vs Gaethje
Oliveira has been extremely impressive in recent bouts, particularly when you consider the calibre of some of his opponents. His last three wins have come against Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier, highly ranked and respected fighters who are tough to beat. As the reigning Lightweight champion, Oliveira will be confident of retaining his title, especially with his recent unbeaten run, in which he has looked invincible at times. The experts share his confidence, with the likes of Betway bet listing him as a strong favourite, but he’ll have his work cut out against Justin Gaethje who is the number one ranked lightweight in the world.
Gaethje comes into the bout with a record of 23 wins, 19 by knockout, and 3 losses, which have been to top-level fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Dustin Poirier and Eddie Alvarez. He is something of a knockout artist with 19 of his wins coming by this method, so he’ll be hoping to reopen some of Oliveira’s old wounds. Like Oliveira, he has recently beaten both Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler, so he has certainly proven that he belongs at this level.
Exciting fights on the undercard
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone vs Joe Lauzon is one of the highlight events of the night that sees two fearless fighters go head-to-head. Both have 16 losses on their records which shows that neither is afraid to fail in the pursuit of glory. Fans who are tuning in for the main event should make sure not to miss this fight beforehand, as fireworks are almost guaranteed.
Another unmissable fight on the UFC 274 undercard is Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs Ovince Saint Preux, an exciting prospect that will also be contested in the lightweight division. Both come into the fight on the back of losses, Rua’s from Paul Craig and Saint Preux’s at the hands of Tanner Boser. Many are predicting this fight will end in a knockout as both fighters win the majority of their bouts in this fashion.
Michael Chandler vs Tony Ferguson is another lightweight bout that is sure to be one of the best fights of the night. Ferguson has lost his last three fights, including to both of UFC 274’s headliners. Before this poor run of form, he won 12 consecutive bouts, winning six Fight of the Night awards in the process. Chandler, who has also lost to the two headliners, won three Bellator lightweight championships before signing for UFC. So, both fighters have reason to believe they can get the win.

She is interrupted by Lynch who after getting beaten by Belair, Lynch pulls her hair and slams Belair to the mat, then hits Belair with a chair. She goes over to a case and gets a pair of scissors out and attempts to cut Belair’s hair but Belair powered out and hit the KOD on Lynch. Belair picked Lynch up again and hit a second KOD. Belair then looks at the scissors, picks them up and goes over and grabs Lynch’s hair. She leg locked her and began cutting Lynch’s hair. Officials finally get Belair stopped and Belair leaves the ring. Lynch comes to and sees her hair on the mat and screams.

And he will see Styles on Sunday.
Styles is shown saying Edge was trying to get in his head and he succeeded, and the Phenomenal A.J. Styles will deliver a beating Edge, or the WWE Universe, will ever forget this Sunday.

Rollins to face opponent of McMahon’s choosing at WrestleMania
Seth Rollins finally got his WrestleMania match but he will not find out who his opponent is until he’s in the ring.
As part of the angle, Rollins was summoned to Vince McMahon’s office yesterday morning after he threatened to crash Raw if he didn’t get his Mania match.
McMahon informed Rollins that he will get a match at Mania and when Rollins asked who his opponent is, Vince said he would pick his opponent and he would not reveal it until it’s time for the match.
Rollins had a rough few weeks trying to get a match, going through several obstacles and failing every time. McMahon told Rollins that next time all he had to do was…ask!
His opponent is rumored to be none other than the returning Cody Rhodes, who quit AEW in mid-February.
The match was planned for WrestleMania Sunday but is now taking place on Saturday.
Lashley returns on Raw, to face Omos at WrestleMania
Bobby Lashley made his return on Monday Night Raw last night and got his rumored match at WrestleMania against Omos.
Lashley answered Omos’ challenge after the former Raw Tag Team champion said that no one is able to take him on. This prompted the arrival of Lashley and the two had a physical confrontation which ended with Lashley taking down Omos with a shoulder block.
The former WWE champion has been out of action since after the Royal Rumble with a shoulder injury that was initially thought would require surgery.
Lashley vs Omos will be part of the WrestleMania Sunday card.

Triple H thanks fans and colleagues for support after retirement
In a post on social media, Triple H thanked fans and colleagues for the outpouring support he received following the announcement of his in-ring retirement.
The former multi-time WWE champion and Hall of Famer announced this past weekend that due to heart failure, his in-ring activities are over. Triple H did a 15-minute interview with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN to make the announcement.
“I am truly humbled by the texts, calls, posts, and all the kind words. I’m grateful to each and every one of you,” he wrote. “I wish I could respond to each of you, but I type so slow I’d never leave the house again. Please know how much they all mean to me. Stay healthy, be grateful for all you have and seize the day…I know I am!”
Triple H has not returned to work full time with WWE yet and is concentrating more on identifying new talent for the company while recovering.
WWE and Fanatics announce long-term partnership
WWE and Fanatics today announced a comprehensive, long-term sports and entertainment partnership that will see Fanatics utilize its expanded digital sports platform to create a new, enhanced experience for WWE fans globally across several businesses, including e-commerce and licensed merchandise, as well as physical, digital, and non-fungible token (NFT) trading cards. Through the ground-breaking deal, WWE will benefit from many capabilities across the Fanatics platform to create more opportunities for its global fanbase to showcase their pride and passion for WWE, its marquee events, and star-studded roster.
The businesses that will work together to create an elevated fan experience include Fanatics Commerce, Fanatics Collectibles and Candy Digital.
“Fanatics is the industry leader and Michael Rubin is a visionary,” said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman & CEO. “We believe this multi-platform partnership will set a new standard for WWE e-commerce, apparel and merchandise, while providing our fans globally with more ways than ever to engage with WWE and our Superstars.”
As part of the agreement, this summer Fanatics will exclusively re-introduce a new, rapid e-commerce and mobile destination, WWE Shop, giving fans around the world access to a leading assortment of WWE merchandise across all categories, including apparel, hard goods, such as title belts, headwear, accessories and more. Fanatics will work closely and collaboratively with the talented teams at WWE who have significantly grown this business in-house for decades, and the company will also add rights to design, manufacture and distribute real-time, on-demand merchandise collections to celebrate unpredictable WWE moments and new and emerging Superstars.
“WWE is one of the most widely admired sports and entertainment properties worldwide, and it made perfect sense to activate many parts of our Fanatics global platform to create a first-of-its-kind, all-in fan experience,” said Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin. “From e-commerce and licensed merchandise to trading cards and more, we’re going to offer up an incredible set of capabilities to help WWE’s passionate fans worldwide celebrate their favorite Superstars, marquee events and the WWE brand overall.”
Fanatics Collectibles, the company’s trading cards and collectibles division, will also become the exclusive provider of licensed WWE physical and digital trading cards, which will once again bear the nostalgic Topps logo. Fanatics acquired the legendary 70-year-old Topps brand earlier this year, which previously held a long-term relationship with WWE. That deal will commence when WWE’s existing trading cards rights expire over the next few years.
Also under the pact, later this year Fanatics’ next generation digital collectibles company, Candy Digital, will become one of WWE’s primary NFT partners. Candy’s team of world-class digital artists, designers, and technologists will curate and build a full range of high-quality trading card NFTs featuring WWE’s biggest moments and stars.
Steiner Brothers to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2022
Rick and Scott Steiner, the Steiner Brothers, have been announced as the latest inductees into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2022.
Starting as a team in 1989 in World Championship Wrestling, the Steiners became one of the most dominating tag teams in the history of professional wrestling. After a successful three-year spell in WCW, the duo moved to the World Wrestling Federation and made their TV debut in December 1992. Their stint in WWE only lasted two years and then moved to ECW and back to WCW before they separated as a tag team in 1998.
The legendary duo had memorable feuds with the likes of The Fabulous Freebirds, The Midnight Express, Money Inc, the nWo, and many others. After splitting up, Scott Steiner went on to have a very successful solo career, winning the WCW title and the World Heavyweight title in WWE.
The two are former seven-time NWA/WCW Tag Team champions and two-time WWE Tag Team champions.
It’s a remarkable turnaround for Scott Steiner who just a few years ago was banned from WWE after threatening Hulk Hogan and his wife.
WrestleMania 38 posters go up on AT&T Stadium in Dallas
Photos from outside the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, shows that WWE banners have been erected and WrestleMania posters are splashed all over the gigantic stadium.
Interesting to note is that Stone Cold Steve Austin takes center stage in one of the graphics, with WWE Superstars Kevin Owens, Charlotte Flair, Rey Mysterio, Bianca Belair, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Ronda Rousey, AJ Styles, Becky Lynch, and Seth Rollins all behind him.
There are rumors that Austin’s segment with Kevin Owens will headline WrestleMania Saturday, but that has not been confirmed.
The main eventers of WrestleMania Sunday, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, have their own large banner on the side of the stadium.
WWE will be taking over the city of Dallas and works will start in the stadium to build the stage. The set is set to be unveiled on Friday.

Trish Stratus hosts non-televised WWE live event in Kitchener, Ontario
WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus was the host of the non-televised WWE live event yesterday at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener, Ontario.
Stratus was supposed to host the Toronto show on December 29 but COVID-19 restrictions implemented by the Ontario government bumped that show and it was rescheduled.
In related news, Becky Lynch wrote on Instagram that she showed up at the Canadian border in Bret Hart swag because it was the “respectful thing to do” but immigration pulled her aside and told her to wait.
“I turn the corner – must be a two hour wait at least. It’s midnight. I have a child. What’s wrong with you?! Get to the top of the line. Officer smiles at me. ‘@trishstratuscom sends her regards.’ This bitch,” Lynch wrote.
Bobby Lashley expected on Raw tomorrow
PWInsider.com is reporting that Bobby Lashley will be on Monday Night Raw tomorrow night, coming back way quicker than originally expected.
Lashley has not wrestled since his Royal Rumble match against Brock Lesnar and while he was one of the six entrants in the Elimination Chamber in February, he was taken out immediately and written out after Rollins power bombed Theory into his pod.
WWE played the concussion card although it was later revealed that Lashley had a shoulder injury and had to travel to Birmingham, Alabama for evaluation. Lashley never underwent surgery though and it looks like that paved the way for a quicker recovery.
There are rumors that Lashley will be part of the WrestleMania card and will be wrestling Omos.

The Japanese star has not wrestled since July 2020 when she left the WWE and the United States to return to her homeland. She worked as an ambassador for WWE until February of this year and then her contract ran out.
