NXT’s Great American Bash 2022 live on USA Network tonight

NXT presents its now-annual Great American Bash special on USA Network tonight live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Coming off a less-than-desired viewership number last week, themed episodes also have a slight bump in numbers and WWE is hoping Great American Bash will provide that tonight.

The show is headlined by Bron Breakker defending the NXT title against Cameron Grimes. Other title matches include Carmelo Hayes vs Grayson Waller for the NXT North American title, The Creed Brothers vs Roderick Strong and Damon Kemp for the NXT Tag Team titles, and Toxic Attraction defend the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles against Cora Jade and Roxanne.

The other two matches advertised are Wes Lee vs Trick Williams and Wendy Choo vs Tiffany Stratton.

Roman Reigns set for Smackdown appearance this Friday

The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns will be returning to Smackdown this Friday as the road to SummerSlam kicks off.

Reigns, who wrestled Riddle two weeks ago for the title, has taken a large step back from WWE shows over the past couple of months and is no longer doing any non-televised live events and barely featuring on television even though he holds both main titles.

Apart from this Friday’s appearance, Reigns is only advertised for the July 22 Smackdown and July 25 Raw from Boston and New York respectively so unless there are more dates added, him and Brock will not cross paths much prior to the July 30 SummerSlam. The two will face off in a last man standing match for the titles and WWE is billing this as their last match against each other.

SummerSlam is at around 28,000 tickets sold according to the Wrestling Observer and still has a long way to go. Half of the Nissan Stadium in Nashville will be used for the show. A buy 3 and get 4 offer is available on Ticketmaster.com in a bid to boost some sales.

Tyson Fury in negotiations for WWE return

GiveMeSport.com is exclusively reporting that Tyson Fury is in negotiations with WWE to return this Summer, potentially for the Clash at the Castle premium live event in Cardiff, Wales.

While nothing has been finalized, GiveMeSport says that discussions have already taken place to see the way forward and Tyson has made it no secret that he wants a return.

After beating Deontay Wilder in March, Fury said that he’ll be talking with WWE to maybe be at SummerSlam and even at the Clash event. SummerSlam is pretty much around the corner and unlikely that anything will be finalized for that show, but an appearance at Clash would certainly bump up ticket sales.

Fury exchanged several tweets with Drew McIntyre earlier this year, with the two egging on each other but rumors are that McIntyre is tied up for the Clash event with a match against Roman Reigns.

Flair’s “Wooooo!” back in WWE opening intro video

Ric Flair’s “Wooooo!” soundbite in WWE’s opening intro has been reinstated effective from yesterday’s Monday Night Raw.

The “Wooooo!” was removed from the video after the allegations against Flair resurfaced following the Dark Side of the Ring episode of the Plane Ride from Hell.

“The most hurtful moment in my ENTIRE career was losing my spot,” Flair wrote on Twitter reacting to the news. “Thank you so much for giving me back my dignity & my life,” he added, tagging WWE and Vince McMahon in the tweet.

In November of last year, Flair said he would not work with WWE again as long as Nick Khan remained president of the company. Flair blamed Khan for pushing to remove him from the signature intro.

“I could never work for Nick Khan in my entire life,” Flair said. “Vince McMahon…I could work for,” he said at the time, stating that he still talks to Vince every now and then and has zero issues with him.

But things got smoothed over when WWE and Flair announced a partnership for a two-hour documentary currently in production and now Flair got his spot back in the video that opens every single show.

Shotzi says criticism of her performance at MITB “hit hard”

Shotzi issued a statement on her social media addressing the fan reaction to some of the botches from the women’s Money In The Bank ladder match, some of which were blamed to her.

The young former NXT star acknowledged mistakes were made during the match and as she’s not a wrestle robot and just a human, slips happen especially in what she described as a “chaotic unpredictable ladder match.”

Shotzi said that she can take the joke and laugh at herself but some of the comments she received have hit hard.

“Comments like ‘you should be fired’ and other terrible things admittedly hit hard. I had to have a few friends wipe the tears off my face and slap some sense into me and remind me WHO THE F I AM,” Shotzi wrote. “That being said, all my haters can SUCK MY BIG GIANT HAIR MANGOS!”

She added that at the end of the day, there are three things she cared about once the match was over: everyone’s safety, fun factor, and crowd reaction.

“Nobody got hurt. We all had a blast and the Vegas crowd was HotHotHot! I felt on top of the world after that match and was so excited to finally have my first hardcore match in over a year. I wouldn’t have done anything I didn’t practice or thought I couldn’t do safely,” she wrote.

Big E says neck surgery “off the table” and provides update

Former WWE champion Big E wrote on Twitter that neck surgery is now “off the table” and won’t be requiring it for the broken neck injury he suffered.

But it’s not all good news for Big E.

“My C1 isn’t ossifying (forming bone) quite yet. The current plan is to get more scans at the one year mark & see how it’s progressing,” he wrote.

E broke his neck on an episode of Smackdown beck in March when he was belly-to-belly suplexed by Ridge Holland at ringside and landed right on his neck.

In May he provided another update, saying his C1 vertebra was not healing as originally hoped and had to spend an extra couple of months in a neck brace to help the process. He recently dumped the neck brace and has pretty much full motion of his neck.

Liv Morgan gets all the love on social media from peers

It’s no secret that Liv Morgan is one of the most-liked individuals backstage at WWE and her cash-in on Saturday night, winning the Smackdown Women’s title from Ronda Rousey, sparked a lot of tweets from her peers, both those in WWE and in AEW.

Sami Zayn, Xavier Woods, Titus O’Neil, Zelina Vega, Bianca Belair, Asuka, Tamina Snuka, Ronda Rousey, Bayley, Alexa Bliss, Sonya Deville, Carmella, Lita, Trish Stratus, Sean Waltman, Booker T, Renee Paquette, Nayla Rose, Ruby Soho, Athena, Amanda Huber, and many others all offered their congratulations on social media.

In the meantime, Rousey’s former photographer uploaded a photo on Instagram saying that Ronda never requested or demanded that she would be champion and made sure that the Smackdown Women’s title was passed on to the hardest worker at Money In The Bank.

Rousey also uploaded a post on Instagram telling her friend Liv Morgan that she deserved it…and said that Natalya is still a bitch! Ouch!

UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya wants eventual WWE move

UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya told BT Sport in a post-fight interview following his win on Saturday that he is certain that he will be joining WWE in the future.

Adesanya came out for his fight using The Undertaker theme song, complete with the urn, fog, purple lights and everything else…and Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Nick Khan were all there to see it in person.

“Definitely, that’s something I’ll try my hand at later on just for fun,” when he was asked about WWE. “Not saying it’s going to be a full-time job but I’m definitely going to jump in the WWE or something along that line just for the entertainment factor cause I grew up jumping off the couch…broke my arm doing shooting stars,” Adesanya said.

Adesanya said he came up with the idea of doing The Undertaker entrance earlier in the week and had the full cooperation of the UFC production team to nail it down but did not know that McMahon etc were going to be there.

“I’m a kid who grew up during the Attitude Era,” he continued. “I play those tracks like the Batista entrance, Stone Cold entrance, just to get the mood while we wrestle!”

Meanwhile, WWE Hall Of Famer The Undertaker reacted to the entrance when journalist Ariel Helwani reached out for a comment.

“I thought it was great,” Undertaker said. “He’s not only a great fighter, he’s an awesome entertainer as well! Tyson Fury gets knocked down and sits up like the Undertaker and Adesanya uses my walkout. Pretty damn cool!”

Liv Morgan: “The greatest moment of my life so far!”

Just moments after winning the Smackdown Women’s championship, Liv Morgan spoke with journalist Ariel Helwani backstage to give her first reaction.

Crying and laughing at the same time, Morgan was overcome with emotions as she tried to put into words what she had just gone through.

“This is everything, there are no words to describe this. This is everything. I can’t believe it oh my gosh,” Liv said. “I wanted this my whole entire life, it’s overwhelming and surreal but this is the feeling that I’ve been searching my whole life for. Wow!”

Asked if the reality was better than the dream, Morgan said that she dreamt about this moment her entire life and going through it now it’s so much better. She said no one deserves anything in life, but she earned this and that’s what makes it so much better.

Liv admitted that over the past year she lost a bit of confidence but never lost hope but there was a time where she thought this wasn’t in the cards for her. She credited her fans for continuing to believe in her even though at times she gave them nothing to believe in.

Her eight-year journey is something she’s proud of and she started as a girl who no one thought would amount to anything in this business and worked her ass off to show everyone she belongs.

Asked what Ronda Rousey told her after she hugged her in the ring, Morgan said she told her that she said you deserve it, something that fans also chanted following her win.

“It still doesn’t feel real. I can’t believe it’s mine. You have to kill me to get this out of my hands,” joked Morgan, who described yesterday as “the greatest moment of my life so far.”

Meanwhile, her former tag team partner and now AEW star Ruby Soho reacted to Liv’s win on social media.

“She DID IT!!!!!!!!!” she wrote, adding a crying emoji. “Smiling from ear to ear right now.”

Cryptic video during MITB leads to many speculations

WWE logo

WWE aired a cryptic video yesterday during Money In The Bank which many fans immediately thought it was for a returning Bray Wyatt.

Using the same technique done for the old Fiend videos you could understand why the initial speculation led to Bray Wyatt but upon further frame-by-frame inspection of the video itself, Wyatt is probably not the subject of this one. This video let to many speculations on Twitter as fans tried to decipher it.

Slowing the video down you are able to see a lot of “Easter eggs” including a license place with “LATINOHEAT” on it, a hanging gold medal, a taped glass frame, armbands which look like they belong to the Hardy Boyz, a crow, a cross, and others.

The one person who is common among all these things is Edge, who had a feud with Eddie Guerrero (license plate), Kurt Angle (gold medal), The Dudleyz (taped glasses), The Hardy Boyz (armbands), and The Undertaker (cross).

Happy Corbin attacks Pat McAfee after MITB, accepts challenge

Happy Corbin attacked Smackdown color commentator Pat McAfee after Money In The Bank went off the air last night.

Corbin sneaked up from behind McAfee through the fans and led a vicious attack, even hitting the End of Days on the floor. Several ringside personnel attended to McAfee including his broadcast partner Michael Cole who gave Corbin a piece of his mind. Corbin then celebrated in the ring with the new Mr Money in The Bank Theory.

Following the attack, Corbin accepted McAfee’s challenge for a one-on-one match at SummerSlam. This will be McAfee’s second match of the year after he won against Theory at WrestleMania.

McAfee then joined Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Nick Khan at the UFC 276 pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena but sported a neck brace to sell the attack.

WWE’s top brass attend UFC 276 in Las Vegas

WWE interim Chairwoman and CEO Stephanie McMahon, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Vince McMahon, WWE President Nick Khan, and Pat McAfee all attended UFC 276 after Money In The Bank ended.

The UFC pay-per-view was at the nearby T-Mobile arena and MITB ended in time before the PPV portion of UFC started.

All – apart from Khan – were shown on television and acknowledged with a graphic of their name and Twitter handle. This is the first time that Vince McMahon attended a live UFC show.

UFC President Dana White always spoke highly of McMahon and considers him the best promoter in the business. Recently White told a story how Vince tore him a new one for not speaking up at a meeting with President Trump held between sports executives during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, at the same UFC show tonight, Israel Adesanya came out for his fight carrying an urn, complete with The Undertaker theme song, hat, and purple lights for his main event fight.

Theory wins the men’s 2022 MITB ladder match

The men’s Money In The Bank ladder match had a final twist added to it – an eight member in the form of former United States champion Theory.

Earlier in the broadcast, Theory lost the U.S. title to fan favorite Bobby Lashley, but Theory’s night was just getting started – and getting better.

An insane MITB ladder match closed the show with several high spots and innovative use of ladders but the 24-year-old outsmarted all his opponents and threw Riddle off the ladder to get the briefcase. During the match, Theory was subjected to some wild bumps and certainly earned his spot.

Theory becomes the youngest men’s MITB winner ever and now has a year to cash in. After the show was over, he cut a promo on the top of the ladder and reminded the crowd that everyone’s time was up but his time was now.

Liv Morgan wins MITB, cashes in and wins Smackdown Women’s title

Liv Morgan won the hearts of the Las Vegas crowd along with the Money In The Bank briefcase as well as the Smackdown Women’s title by the time the night was over.

The 28-year-old had an excellent night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, opening the show by winning the women’s MITB ladder match. Morgan was super over with the crowd and defeated the other six opponents to snatch the briefcase. After her win, she was interviewed backstage and was asked when she thinks she will cash it in but Morgan said she’s going to enjoy it for the time being and had a year to think about it.

But Morgan pulled an upset by cashing in her briefcase after an injured Ronda Rousey beat Natalya to retain the Smackdown Women’s title. Morgan ran in and taking advantage of the situation, handed the referee her contract. Rousey caught her in an ankle lock but Morgan kicked Rousey’s injured leg and then rolled her up to win her first-ever title in WWE.

With the fans going bananas, Rousey handed over the title to Morgan, hugged her, and lifted her hand.

When the house lights went down to get to the next segment, Morgan was given a big high-five from Pat McAfee and an even bigger hug from Michael Cole at ringside.
