CM Punk goes all out on Cabana, Page, AEW EVPs in fiery press conference

New AEW World champion CM Punk went on a long tirade during the post-show press conference, targeting Colt Cabana, Hangman Page, and even the AEW EVPs who did nothing to diffuse a situation.

Asked about Cabana, Punk looked a bit irritated that he’s answering this question in 2022, saying that he hasn’t been friends with Cabana since late 2013 and it is unfortunate he has to be here, on his time, speaking about Cabana.

Punk said he has every e-mail, every receipt, every bill, including the note where Cabana told him they’ll go their separate ways and he will pay his own bills.

“That’s an email that I have. And the only reason the public did not see is because when I finally had to countersue him, through discovery we discovered he shared a bank account with his mother. That’s a fact,” Punk said. “And as soon as we discovered that fact and we subpoenaed Marcia, he sent the email, ‘Oh, can we please drop all this?’”

After a long rant on Cabana, Punk turned his sights on Page and unnamed EVPs who instead of doing their job and handle the situation, they enabled Page.

“There’s people who call themselves EVPs that should have f*cking known better. This sh*t was none of their business,” Punk continued. “I understand sticking up for your f*cking friends. I f*cking get it. I stuck up for that guy more than anybody. Okay? I paid his bills until I didn’t and it was my decision not to.”

Addressing Page, he said he did nothing to deserve an “empty-headed f*cking dumb f*ck like Hangman Adam Page” to go on TV and say what he said. “For what? What did I do? What did I ever do? Didn’t do a Goddamn thing.”

Punk said that they jeopardized the first $1 million gate this company ever drew off his back, calling Page and the EVPs a disgrace to the industry and a disgrace to the company.

“We’re far beyond apologies. I gave him a f*cking chance. It did not get handled, and you saw what I had to do, which is very regrettable lowering myself to his f*cking level,” Punk said. “But that’s where we’re at right now. And I will still walk up and down this hallway and say, ‘If you have a f*cking problem with me, take it up with me.’ Let’s f*cking go.”

MJF returns at All Out in show-closing angle

MJF made his return to AEW last night at All Out for the show-closing angle with new champion CM Punk.

After Punk won the title, the lights went out and a voicemail from Tony Khan played. It said that he doesn’t like he is screwing the fans and is prepared to swallow a big pill and offer him more money to show up at All Out, put him in the Casino Ladder match, and doesn’t have to sign a contract extension.

A very old ROH promo from CM Punk then aired where Punk told fans that the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing people he didn’t exist. The masked Joker from the Casino Ladder match then showed up, turned around, and removed his mask…and put his Burberry scarf on, with MJF saying he’s the devil himself.

MJF then walked out to the top of the stage to a loud ovation and MJF chants from the crowd. Punk held the title over his head and MJF signaled he’s going for the title.

He then wrapped up his appearance by flipping off the fans.

MJF has not been seen on AEW television since the Dynamite following Double or Nothing where he delivered a much talked about promo saying he wants to quit and called Tony Khan a “f*cking mark.”

Triple H to meet Bad Bunny to explore future appearance

Paul Levesque revealed in the post-show press conference that he will be meeting with music megastar Bad Bunny again soon to discuss the possibility of another collaboration between WWE and himself.

He went over how when Bunny came in for WrestleMania, he busted his ass every day at the WWE Performance Center and even gota house in Orlando to be closer for training. Bunny won over everyone in WWE with his dedication.

“A little bit of a spoiler, him and I are gonna have a conversation very, very soon,” Levesque revealed to the media. “It’s already scheduled, we’re gonna see what’s available. Biggest music star in the world so…let’s go!”

Triple H noted how they have been working with Bunny, Pat McAfee, Logan Paul, and Fury, and they do it because these stars show passion, the same passion that WWE Superstars have. He said it takes a lot for him to show respect, but these individuals got his respect because whenever they were involved, they were 100% committed and showed that they’re there because they love the business.

Mickie James in win-or-retire Impact angle

Mickie James returned to Impact Wrestling this week for a major announcement of her own.

James cut an emotional promo in the ring which detailed the death of her sister, getting released from WWE, and returning to Impact. She thanked her fans for sticking by her and then addressed what’s next for her.

The 43-year-old said that after months of soul-searching, she wants to find out if she can still hang out with the best and announced an open challenge for her, going through everyone who responds to eventually get an Impact Knockouts title match.

But there is a catch. If she loses any match along the way, or loses the title match if she gets there, she will then retire.

The angle is similar to what Ric Flair did on his way to WrestleMania 24 when Vince McMahon made Flair wrestle all the top guys and if he loses, he had to retire. Flair ended up losing to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania.

AEW star Kyle O’Reilly will be out of action for the next couple of months as he has just undergone neck fusion surgery.

The former Undisputed Era and reDRagon member posted a few stories on his Instagram from the hospital indicating he did the procedure. O’Reilly hasn’t appeared on AEW television since early August when he showed up with Adam Cole and Bobby Fish. His reDRagon tag team partner Fish is now a free agent and no longer under an AEW contract.

While neck fusion surgery doesn’t have a long recovery in hospital, it will take him a few months before he’s allowed to take bumps in the ring and resume his regular schedule.

Cardiff show first of a big worldwide plan, says Levesque

In the post-show press conference, Paul Levesque announced that there were fans from 42 countries at Clash at the Castle yesterday with 78% of the crowd coming from outside Wales.

WWE announced a total attendance of 62,296, which seems to be the legit number and not inflated as that’s around the number that was being quoted earlier as far as tickets sold and comped. It was not close to the 74,000 attendance record that the Principality Stadium currently has.

Asked if we can expect more of these events, Levesque said that this was just step one of a big plan and told the media to get their passports ready. He said that there will be a lot more announcements over the next few months and years for international events like this.

Regarding using the Clash at the Castle name again, Triple H joked that there’s not many places with castles where they can hold a show so this could be a one-and-done event in terms of that name.

Malakai Black reportedly asks for AEW release, gets denied

Earlier this week there were rumors of some AEW stars requesting their release from the company.

One particular individual heavily rumored to be among those stars was Malakai Black. His name was confirmed by Raj Giri of WrestlingInc.com saying that his sources indicated that it was Black after “concerns about his mental health due to personal life and demoralization due to the booking and handling of his character.”

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer also noted that one who asked for his release has a long time left on his current AEW deal and Black fits that category as well. Black was mentioned by Tony Khan a few weeks ago as someone who is tied up to AEW for years to come.

In the end, AEW management turned down Black’s request for release despite Tony Khan previously stating that anyone who wants to leave will be granted their wish.

Imperium reunites as Giovanni Vinci re-joins faction on main roster

Solo Sikoa was not the only NXT star to get called up to the main roster as Giovanni Vinci, the star formerly known as Fabian Aichner, re-joined Imperium at Clash at the Castle.

Before the Intercontinental title match started, Ludwig Kaiser came out to introduce the champion, but before that, he told fans to show their gratitude to Giovanni Vinci, who was shown on screen as the camera panned out.

Kaiser then introduced “the leader of Imperium” to a big pop from the crowd as the trio returned together for the first time since earlier this year.

Aichner was repackaged as Giovanni Vinci in NXT as Kaiser and Gunther moved to the main roster in April. Vinci made his first appearance under his new name in June.

Tyson Fury prevents Money In The Bank cash-in by knocking out Theory

Tyson Fury was ringside for the whole event in Cardiff and while he was not involved in a match, the boxing champion still got busy by preventing a Money In The Bank cash-in in a spectacular fashion.

With both Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns down along with the referee, Austin Theory’s theme song hit the speakers. Theory sprinted down the aisle with a second referee and went next to the ring announcer to let her know that he is cashing in his briefcase.

But Fury, who was sitting right there, had other plans. The champ stood up and threw a right hand at Theory, knocking him out!

“Oh my God! Tyson Fury just knocked the hell out of Theory,” screamed Michael Cole on commentary as the fans went absolutely bananas. “Why did he do that for,” questioned Corey Graves.

Fury got involved after the match again, first showing respect to the Tribal Chief by shaking his hand and then showered Drew McIntyre with praise and even sang “American Pie” with him to send the crowd home happy.

Solo Sikoa saves Roman Reigns at the Castle

Solo Sikoa crashed the Drew McIntyre party at Clash at the Castle, preventing the Scotsman from winning the Undisputed WWE Universal championship from his cousin Roman Reigns.

Sikoa, the younger brother of Jimmy and Jey Uso, showed up in a hoodie and pulled the referee from making the three count, sending fans inside the Principality Stadium into frenzy. The distraction then allowed Reigns to recover and spear McIntyre for the victory.

The 29-year-old has been part of NXT for the past year and is now moving up to the main roster, seemingly joining The Bloodline.

Early betting odds for NXT Worlds Collide

Pretty Deadly are the only ones to previously hold both set of titles.

Chris Jericho responds to Triple H: “NXT sucks”

Appearing on Inside The Ropes, the first AEW World champion Chris Jericho did not appreciate Triple H’s comments about AEW beating the WWE developmental system and said that once again, Levesque is changing the narrative and history.

“When it started [the Wednesday night war], it was not developmental, it was a third brand, it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon, and all the other bullshit that they said, so of course we beat the developmental or whatever you want to call it, but who gives a shit?” Jericho said.

The it’s a marathon not a sprint line was used by WWE when AEW won on its debut night by pulling 1.4 million viewers.

“The show sucks. NXT sucks. It’s not a good show, and they know it. Whether they were punished or not…they probably were punished. That’s probably why Triple H said those things because he is angry that we beat them, and he is probably angry that we exist,” Jericho continued.

He said that AEW doesn’t care about WWE and only care about building their fanbase and ratings with the best stories and best wrestling show they can put on.

Jericho then added that Tony Khan has more money that Triple H’s boss does and they are not going anywhere.

“That pisses them off and why wouldn’t it? They had a monopoly for so long and don’t like the fact that we exist and that’s fine. We don’t care that they exist, God bless them. They are running a show in front of 50,000 people, why would he care about us? But you know, he should, and he does, and that’s why he said those things,” he concluded.
