What’s next for LA Knight? Decoding the WrestleMania plotline post-Royal Rumble

In the world of professional wrestling, few stories are as compelling as that of LA Knight. His career, spanning twenty years, has been a testament to perseverance and passion. From his early days of grappling on the independent circuit to his recent climb to WWE stardom, Knight’s journey reflects a relentless pursuit of wrestling excellence.

This two-decade odyssey, fraught with challenges and setbacks, has led him to the pinnacle of his career – a chance to compete for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WWE Royal Rumble.

The Pinnacle of Knight’s Career: The Fatal 4-Way Clash

The WWE Royal Rumble on January 27 marks a career-defining moment for LA Knight. Standing in the ring with the likes of Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and AJ Styles, Knight faces the biggest opportunity of his life.

This Fatal 4-Way Match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship isn’t just a match; it’s the culmination of two decades of blood, sweat, and tears. It’s a chance for Knight to etch his name in the annals of wrestling history and prove that his journey was worth every moment of struggle.

Knight’s Unyielding Drive: Overcoming Adversity

LA Knight’s story is one of undying determination. His early release from WWE NXT in 2014 and the less-than-stellar male modeling manager gimmick in early 2022 are now distant memories.

These setbacks only fueled his ambition, transforming him into a formidable competitor. Knight’s ability to rise above rejection and keep pushing forward has been a defining feature of his wrestling persona, making him a fan favorite and a symbol of resilience in the wrestling world.

A Missed Opportunity at WWE Crown Jewel: The Bloodline’s Interference

Knight’s journey hasn’t been without its share of heartbreak. At WWE Crown Jewel on November 4, he was tantalizingly close to defeating The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns to claim the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

However, interference from The Bloodline snatched victory from his grasp. This moment was not just a setback but a fueling agent for Knight’s already burning desire to claim the top spot in WWE, proving that even in defeat, his spirit remains unbroken.

The Potential WrestleMania Showdown: Logan Paul in Knight’s Sights

For any LA Knight fans watching or attending WrestleMania 40, be sure to keep an eye out for legal Meryland casinos/sportsbooks. While it’s not yet legal to wager on WWE events, there have been talks in various states about legalizing the activity.

A possible matchup with Logan Paul, the current WWE United States Champion and a global social media phenomenon, looms large. Despite Paul’s rapid rise since his WrestleMania 38 debut, he hasn’t faced many top stars.

A confrontation with Knight could be a blockbuster, especially considering the crowd support Knight garnered during their interaction on the June 19 episode of Monday Night Raw ahead of the 2023 Men’s Money In The Bank match.

Analyzing Knight’s WrestleMania Prospects: Championship Aspirations and Rivalries

Post-Royal Rumble, the landscape for LA Knight could go in multiple directions. While a start as the Undisputed WWE Universal champion is a possibility, the likelihood of Reigns retaining and having a rematch with Cody Rhodes is high. However, this does not diminish Knight’s potential at WrestleMania.

A match against Logan Paul, with the United States Championship on the line, could be a highlight of his career. Such a bout would not only elevate Knight’s status but also offer a compelling narrative, pitting his experienced ring craft against Paul’s burgeoning wrestling acumen.

Knight’s Evolving WWE Persona: From Rejection to Fan Favorite

LA Knight’s transformation in WWE is a narrative of evolution and adaptation. Once burdened with gimmicks and roles that did not resonate, Knight has emerged as a fan favorite, known for his charisma and in-ring prowess.

This evolution is a testament to his ability to connect with the audience and adapt his character to the ever-changing landscape of professional wrestling. Knight’s journey from being released to becoming a key player in WWE showcases his resilience and dedication to his craft.

The Significance of the Royal Rumble for Knight: A Career-Defining Moment

The Royal Rumble is more than just another event for LA Knight; it’s a defining moment in his two-decade-long career. This event represents an opportunity for Knight to solidify his legacy and prove that he belongs at the top tier of WWE.

Participating in a marquee match at such a prestigious event is a clear indication of how far Knight has come and the respect he has earned within the industry.

The Impact of Fan Support: Knight’s Connection With the Audience

A crucial element in LA Knight’s rise has been his connection with the WWE audience. His ability to evoke strong reactions, whether through his mic skills, in-ring performances, or character work, has endeared him to fans worldwide. This support has been instrumental in his journey, providing him with the motivation to overcome obstacles and strive for greatness.

The Future Beyond WrestleMania: Long-Term Aspirations and Goals

“I don’t know that with my personality I’ll ever be satisfied,” Knight told CBS Sports in October. “I have such a habit of nitpicking everything and getting down to nitty-gritty details… Obviously, for me, I want to be at the top of the mountain. There are a lot of hurdles to get there but I always wanted to be there.

“If you’re not aiming to be the WWE champion, if you’re not aiming to be that top guy, the face of the company and in the conversation as far as some of the greats, that would be at least close to that goal line. Maybe it would get me there. Maybe it wouldn’t.”

Looking beyond WrestleMania, the future holds immense possibilities for LA Knight. His ambition is not just to win titles but to become a lasting figure in the wrestling world.

Knight’s journey is far from over, and his aspirations go beyond current rivalries and championships. He seeks to leave a legacy that transcends titles, one that is remembered for its passion, resilience, and the indelible mark he leaves on the sport of professional wrestling.

Seth Rollins suffers torn MCL, to address his future on Raw

It looks like Seth Rollins’ time as WWE World Heavyweight champion could be in jeopardy as the champion has suffered a torn MCL and a partially torn meniscus according to Fightful.

Rollins will be kicking off Monday Night Raw to address his future. Depending on the tear grade in the MCL, recovery for that could take up to six weeks and the same for a meniscus if he decides to undergo surgery. Both would put him still in time for a WrestleMania return.

The champion suffered the knee injury this past Monday when he was wrestling Jinder Mahal for the title. He was heavily limping afterward and had to be helped to the back.

Rollins, who won the title by defeating AJ Styles in the tournament final at Crown Jewel last May, was removed from any future non-televised live events.

Styles, Orton, Knight, and Reigns in contract signing segment on Smackdown tonight

Tonight’s Smackdown is live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, where over 11,000 fans are expected in the stands as the road to the Royal Rumble continues.

Headlining tonight’s show is the contract signing with all the Superstars participating in the Undisputed WWE Universal title match – Randy Orton, LA Knight, AJ Styles, and the champion himself Roman Reigns.

Four matches have so far been announced for the broadcast with Kayden Carter and Katana Chance defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, a six-man tag match featuring Carlito, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro against Santos Escobar, Angel, and Humberto, plus Butch and Tyler Bate take on Pretty Deadly, and Randy Orton takes on Solo Sikoa.

In addition, United States champion Logan Paul will be the special guest on the Kevin Owens Show.

Ultimo Dragon comments on Okada’s NJPW exit, says future undecided

Ultimo Dragon, who trained Kazuchika Okada when he started in this business, wrote on Instagram that the former IWGP Heavyweight champion met him yesterday to deliver the news personally that he is leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

“Ever since he came to Toryumon when he was 15 years old, he has always been very humble. Every time he has had an important event in his life, he always lets me know,” the 57-year-old wrote.

Dragon noted that Okada has not decided where he is going next but is sure he will continue to be a superstar wherever he goes.

“But not only that, I know he will never change and will continue to be the great man he is,” he continued.

Seth Rollins taken off this weekend’s non-televised live events

WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins has been removed from the advertising for the upcoming two WWE Supershows this weekend.

Rollins was supposed to be part of the combined Raw/Smackdown shows at the Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery, Alabama tomorrow and then the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi, on Sunday, but his name is no longer on the WWE.COM listings.

He is also not part of this Monday’s Raw live broadcast from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, but that obviously could change.

Rollins injured his knee during his title match against Jinder Mahal on Raw earlier this week and was limping following the show. It’s likely that he is being taken off these shows as a precaution as his injury has not been publicly addressed yet.

NJPW announces that Kazuchika Okada is leaving the promotion on January 31

In massive news coming from Japan, NJPW announced that Kazuchika Okada has given notice to the promotion that he will be leaving the company at the conclusion of his contract on January 31.

The news was rumored before but it is now official that Okada is heading to the United States with AEW as his likely final destination.

“We apologise to fans for the abrupt nature of this announcement, but join them in wishing Okada the very best in his future,” NJPW wrote in a statement.

“Thank you to the best of companies in NJPW, to the best of opponents that I’ve been able to face here, and to the best of fans that have cheered and booed over the years. I promise to make it rain in every match I have left, so keep watching,” he said.

Bayley believes she will wrestle Mercedes Mone again down the road

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, WWE Superstar Bayley said she’s confident she will be wrestling Mercedes Mone again and that we have not seen the last of the two of them together in the ring.

“We’ll always be destined for one more match. Our next match will never be our last,” Bayley told SI. “We’re ‘The Brooklyn Girls.’ We’re going to live on forever because of that match, and it’s something we can carry on forever.”

The two have shared some incredible time together in the ring, both as tag team partners and rivals dating back to their NXT days. Their Takeover: Brooklyn match remains one of the most popular among wrestling fans.

“I don’t have chemistry in the ring with anyone else like I do with her. No one teaches me like her. She’s my Jordan,” Bayley continued.

The two were together last weekend to support their friend Trinity at TNA’s Hard To Kill pay-per-view, but while Trinity is heading back to WWE, Mone still remains on course to join AEW, with WWE having passed on to her due to high price she requested.

John Cena: “I don’t have much time left in WWE”

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, John Cena claimed that the end of his professional wrestling career is nearly here and the finish line is close.

“I turned 47 this past year and I don’t have much time left in the WWE,” Cena said bluntly without mincing it.

The 16-time world champion said that it’s not because the lack of love for wrestling or because of his Hollywood career, but simply it boils down to one thing only: age.

“You know, I’m trying to figure out when to close that chapter,” he told PEOPLE. I just want to do what’s best for the company. If it’s a big final match or if it’s just a final match, or however I can be integrated into the product to let everyone know that this chapter is over, I’m willing to listen to what WWE has to say.”

Cena credited WWE for his career and said that he promised himself he wouldn’t be there just for the sake of being there.

“Every time I perform, I want to give my all to the audience. And I’ve got to admit when I hit the 45 mark, I had to begin to try to form an exit strategy and I’m trying to work on that currently,” he concluded.

No new deal for Jim Ross in AEW yet as contract expiration looms closer

Jim Ross said in his latest episode of his podcast Grilling JR that he has not signed a new contract with AEW and has less than a month to go before it expires.

Ross’ deal expires on Valentine’s Day – February 14 – and Ross is hoping that he signs on the dotted line before that to have the opportunity to call Sting’s last match with Tony Schiavone.

JR said that they’re still in the same position regarding a new deal, noting that there haven’t been any movement since he last talked about it a few weeks ago on his show.

“It seems to be that it just makes sense that the original two guys that called the very first Sting-Flair match if they were available and could still carry their share of their water, would be a good opportunity,” JR explained.

“I gotta get there contractually to be able to pull that off. I’m not using it as a leverage ploy. It just seemed like it makes sense. I think the best booking is booking this logically and having JR and Schiavone call the match to me seems logical,” he continued.

Ross once again said that Tony Khan “loved the idea” of having him and Schiavone call Sting’s last match but there’s a contract in the middle that needs to be ironed out before that happens.

“So we gotta take care of some business and I’m sure that we will. I feel good about where I’m headed with Tony and AEW. I’d love to have something to announce before the 14th if possible,” he added.

Jon Moxley returns to AEW television this Saturday on Collision

Jon Moxley, who has been off AEW television for most of this month due to his commitments with New Japan Pro-Wrestling, will be returning on this Saturday’s Collision on TNT.

Moxley’s last match with AEW was on the December 30 Worlds End pay-per-view, losing the Continental Classic final against Eddie Kingston.

Since then, he traveled to Japan and participated in a three-way match for the IWGP Global Heavyweight title at Wrestle Kingdom 18, teamed up with Bryan Danielson for a three-way tag team match the next night at NJPW New Year Dash, and then wrestled Shingo Takagi in a no disqualification match at the NJPW Battle In The Valley pay-per-view last week.

Bryan Danielson will also return for his first AEW match since Wolds End this Saturday. Apart from teaming with Moxley at the New Year Dash show, Danielson wrestled Kazuchika Okada – and lost – at Wrestle Kingdom 18.

Grayson Waller threatens to break floor manager’s jaw after disrespectful comment on live TV

Grayson Waller and LA Knight were in Australia to promote the Elimination Chamber premium live event and got into it with the hosts of the Sunrise morning show on live television.

The female co-host, Natalie Barr, asked LA Knight if he can do his signature move and LA Knight said that they just showed it on the screen and if he does it here, it’s not going to be good for anyone.

The other co-host, Matt Shirvington, said that the floor manager was leaving this week so he volunteered him to be on the receiving end of it.

“That’s not for me,” Knight said, before putting it on Waller. “Do you wanna go ahead and take this one?”

Waller told the floor manager who was already flexing that if he gets over there they’re gonna have to get the police because he wasn’t going to throw any fake punches.

“I’m gonna punch you straight in the jaw,” Waller said.

He then got up and blamed him for disrespecting him as the host got in the middle to prevent further damage.

“You wanna talk to me like this ain’t real? Don’t act all tough,” Waller said as the floor manager was pushed away and then Waller threatened to knock out the host too.

Ash by Elegance signs with TNA Wrestling

TNA Wrestling announced that Ash by Elegance, the artist formerly known as Dana Brooke in WWE, has signed with the promotion.

Real name Ashley Sebera, the former 24/7 champion made her TNA television debut at the Hard To Kill pay-per-view last weekend, shown at ringside along with an assistant prior to the Knockouts title match between Trinity and Jordynne Grace.

Ash seems to be portraying a gimmick similar to that of “Timeless” Toni Storm but took to X to address the fan’s reaction of her gimmick.

“Relax everyone…it’s a hair style,” Ash wrote. “I haven’t cut a promo, or step foot in the ring & y’all are hating.”

She added that she likes Toni Storm but Toni will never be Ash and Ash will never be Toni either, but at least everyone is talking about her.

The former WWE Superstar was released in September of last year after a decade with the company. She has not wrestled anywhere else apart from the WWE system.

AEW, Mark Briscoe and kids pay tribute to Jay on one year anniversary of his death

AEW paid tribute to Jay Briscoe last night on Dynamite on the one year anniversary of his death.

It was his brother Mark who made an emotional speech at the top of the ramp and said that his nieces were in the truck with him at the time of the tragedy. Doctors told them that one of the kids would never walk again due to the severity of her injuries.

“However,” Briscoe said as his nieces and nephew all walked out together.

“We DemBoys dammit, we won’t stop cause we can’t stop. We going nowhere,” Mark said, as he hugged all of Jay’s kids.

AEW then replayed the tribute video they did for Jay to wrap things up.

Both daughters, Gracie and Jayleigh, spent a month in the hospital after the crash. Gracie, 12 at the time, was paralyzed from the waist down after suffering an L2 dislocation and L3/L4 fractures. She also had spinal cord compression which complicated things more. Jayleigh, who was 9, had a C7 neck fracture and L3/L4 fractures in her back. She also broke her tibia, fibula, ribs, and a perforated bowel.

Briscoe died in a car crash in Laurel, Delaware, a crash which also claimed the life of the driver who caused the accident. Jay was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash while his two daughters were.
