WWE 2024 Draft rules announced

WWE today published the 2024 Draft rules, with the two-night special taking place this Friday on Smackdown and Monday on Raw.

What’s interesting is that this time, the champions on each brand are protected and will stay on their respective brand and will not be part of the Draft. The Women’s Tag Team champions are, however, eligible to be drafted.

Smackdown will pick first this coming Friday and there will be four rounds for a total of 16 picks.

Raw will pick first on Friday and there will be six rounds for a total of 24 picks.

The rosters will lock on Monday, May 6 after Backlash.

Raw rating for 04/22/2024

Facing heavy competition from two NBA Playoff matches and NHL playoffs, Monday Night Raw drew just 1,597,000 viewers this week, down 209,000 viewers from last week’s show and the least-watched broadcast since January 15.

The show started with 1,610,000 viewers in the first hour, then increased to 1,641,000 viewers in the second hour, but dropped to 1,541,000 viewers in the third and final hour.

Raw was #3, #4, and #5 in the top 50 cable chart for the night among the 18-49 demographic with 0.53, 0.53, and 0.51 ratings respectively for an average of 0.52, down 0.09 from last week and lowest since January 15 as well. Raw was #3 overall in all of TV including network for the night. (Ratings credit: SpoilerTV)

Tickets for Clash at the Castle: Scotland priced super expensive with nosebleeds at $430

Continuing the tradition, Clash at the Castle: Scotland and Smackdown combo tickets were released this morning at very expensive prices, with the cheapest tickets in the pre-sale listed at £345.90 and that’s third row from the very top. That is the equivalent of $430 for nosebleed seats.

Ringside tickets in the first few rows are priced at a whopping £2,945.40 each…and that’s around $3,660. The pricing is very similar to that used at Clash at the Castle in Wales and Bash in Berlin and even Backlash in France.

For Clash at the Castle in Wales, tickets went down by a huge percentage as the show got closer to try and fill the stadium.

It’s a bit impossible at the moment to quantify how much tickets were sold in the first day of pre-sale since you can’t tell which seats were open for sale. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday at 10AM local time on Ticketmaster.co.uk.

There will be no set used for the shows which means the full arena will be in use. The OVO Hydro holds up to 16,000 fans.

AEW Dynasty 2024 review – where the best wrestle

Late to the show = late to this.  Apologies.

Let’s get right to it.

Pac/Okada

Nearly twenty minutes in, the Rainmaker fired a flurry, signature pose coming, crowd roaring, with him all the way and… middle finger.  Eliciting serious boos on a show where true heel heat was hard to come by.  The former IWGP champ is elevating denying fans what they want into an art form.

Delightful.

And created a heated last few minutes of what was an excellent match.

It wasn’t a ‘bang’ as a show starter.  It was patient.  It was incredibly real – nobody just took a move or hold, they tried to block, mitigate, counter.  Okada’s selling and heel mannerisms tremendous.  Cackling with glee after spiking Pac to the ringside mats via draping ddt.  Raking the eyes to escape a Brutalizer while the crowd yelled ‘Tap!’

Cheating to win by dragging the ref in the way of a Black Arrow.  As noted, true heels are rare in AEW; Okada’s writing a damn textbook and it still might not be enough.  While afterward a forlorn Pac wondered what else he might’ve done: the agony of defeat.

All of which was prefaced nicely by Excalibur in a cheap but effective hook linking both guys to Ultimo Dragon.  In a match where the announcers were really on.  JR’s great in these short bursts.

Copeland, Kingston, Briscoe vs House of Black

If you highlight two possible finishes but don’t ultimately choose the one they go with, your prediction’s still right, right?  Sweet.

Very entertaining match which did everything it could to keep Copeland/Malakai apart until mist, Kick, win.  Very nice booking.  Which hopefully won’t be spoiled by a screwy non-finish when finally they meet.

Willow/Julia

Mercedes must be a heel at this point, even the announcers emphasizing how she’d deliberately rained on Nightingale’s parade.  If this was the plan from the start, the ‘believe in your dreams’ speech on night one was strange.

If it wasn’t, it continues a streak of AEW having to alter plans after misreading the audience.  Intended or not, turning somebody this quickly is bad booking.

Strong/O’Reilly

Adam Cole can stand again.  His eyes don’t like Wardlow much.

Hook/Jericho

Didn’t actually watch this.  Just aghast at it going seventeen minutes.  Ten would’ve been optimistic.

Danielson/Ospreay

After thirty seconds, this was better than anything on the show.  After five minutes, it was better than anything this year.  There aren’t really words for why – these two, Ospreay in particular – are just on another level.  Smooth, fluid, crisp, everything perfectly timed.

Will over like a god, atmosphere incredible, ‘Ospreay! Ospreay!’ enough to give you chills.  If AEW can regularly get the Brit in front of crowds like these, he just might be that difference-making star.

But it was Danielson calling the tune.  As per the pre-match story, he needed to ground the younger guy, expertly controlling the pace while allowing Ospreay perfectly punctuated moments to sing, bringing the crowd up before taking them down again.

First targeting the waist and Will’s wind; then the arm and the Hidden Blade.  Easily winning the strike battle until finally Ospreay had enough, slugging Danielson down with a big forearm as the crowd chanted ‘We’re not worthy!’

So Danielson switched to counter wrestling – LeBell, la mistica into a LeBell – until it was time for the big moves to be teased, feigned, countered and hit, pace picking up.  Before again bringing the crowd down only to bring them right back up by doing it all again.  Danielson’s ‘Yes!’s being turned to ‘No!’s for perhaps the first time ever by a crowd so thoroughly behind the new guy.

Until finally, finally, they setup one of the most creative finishes in a long time.

Since some thirty minutes had failed to separate them, it was time for a shootout, in the Old West sense.  Each to their corner, locking eyes, cocking weapons, fastest gun wins.  And as the story’s told us, Ospreay’s faster.

So the Blade beat the Busaiku.

Before they spoiled things a little by having Danielson sell a legitimate neck injury after a tiger driver before a second Hidden Blade settled things.

Bucks/FTR

So man were these guys in a sucky position.  And for ten minutes the crowd were quiet outside of a brief Punk chant which was quickly booed down.

But this was so good that those in the Louis just could not ignore it for long.  Tremendously dramatic, brutal, bodies on the line, full of big moves – Cash balls-first onto a ladder bridge into an EVP Trigger, both parts of a Powerplex off ladders, Dax 450’d through a table by Nick, Matt piledriven on a ladder bridge (which buckled and nearly ended badly) by Cash.

Who might have been the star of this match, wrestling a frantic pace with Dax out of it for long periods, including a tope Darby would’ve appreciated, brilliant selling which admittedly, might’ve just been genuine pain but at the point it’s being debated you’ve already won.

Even the crowd deciding this was all a bit much after Dax was sunset bombed off a ladder by Nick, sparking a chant of ‘Please be careful!’

Until Dax bumped Nick off a ladder, match all-but won, when a Sting mask-clad fan interfered, unveiled by security to be one Jack Perry (who undoubtedly got a nice reaction but continued a night where true heels were hard to come by) and hauled away as Excalibur accused him of ‘trespassing.’

The predictable (which is not necessarily bad) conclusion capping a hell of match.  And one which, most importantly, both teams were trying to win.  Constantly.  Right from the word go.

Swerve/Joe

For numerous reasons, didn’t actually watch this but saw the entrances and the aftermath.  Strickland incredibly over in the land of the Cardinals.  Getting several minutes afterward to bask in cheers was a nice touch to make the moment feel big.

Flipside, that bodysuit was niche AF for a guy who’s now supposed to be the top guy.  As is facing Kyle Fletcher in an Eliminator match.  It’s a very AEW way to begin a reign.  Unless it’s more than a ‘good match’ and Swerve’s being knitted into the Ospreay/BCC/Family feud?

Anyway, very good show.  Though my favourite (remembering favourite does not equal best) thing all weekend might still have been that Collision six-man.  ‘Where the best wrestle’ indeed.  Matchmaking not a problem.  Now about that booking…

Rampage rating for 04/20/2024

Rampage, which had Collision as the lead-in, drew 397,000 on Saturday night, a big jump of 102,000 viewers from the prior week. The show had a 0.13 rating in 18-49, retaining that of Collision, up 0.05 from the prior show. It placed #19 in the top 50 cable chart for the night. (Ratings credit: SpoilerTV)

Kenny Omega to appear at Dynamite from Winnipeg next week

With Dynamite taking place from his hometown of Winnipeg next week, the Canada Life Centre announced that former AEW champion Kenny Omega will be in the house for the show.

“WINNIPEG… we have a secret,” they wrote on X along with a photo of Omega making his entrance. “We will be seeing Kenny Omega at AEW in Winnipeg on May 1!”

Omega has been out of action since December of last year with a severe case of diverticulitis which was nearly fatal and has not appeared on AEW TV ever since.

He is certainly not cleared to compete and is actually undergoing surgery soon to fix the diverticulitis problem.

It remains unclear if Omega will actually appear on television or if it’s just for those in the building.

Tickets for this Dynamite are still available starting from $37.50 CA including all fees and taxes.

Tips for first-time casino visitors

Walking into a casino for the first time can be an exhilarating experience. The vibrant lights, the sounds of machines chiming, and the anticipation of potential winnings all add to the thrill. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just looking to try your luck, stepping onto the casino floor can feel like entering a whole new world. But for newcomers, the atmosphere can also be overwhelming, with countless games to choose from and unfamiliar etiquette to navigate. Fear not, for we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide with essential tips to help first-time casino visitors make the most of their experience.

Understanding the Casino Environment

Before diving into the frenzy of games and entertainment, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the casino environment. Casinos are designed to create an immersive atmosphere, often with elaborate themes and layouts that can be disorienting at first. It’s essential to maintain a sense of direction and locate key areas such as the cashier, restrooms, and dining options. Most casinos provide maps or directories to help guests navigate the sprawling floor, so don’t hesitate to ask for assistance if needed.

Once inside the casino, remember to pace yourself. The excitement and adrenaline can be contagious, leading some visitors to overspend or lose track of time. Set a budget for your gambling activities and stick to it, ensuring that you can enjoy the experience without any financial stress. Additionally, be mindful of alcohol consumption, as excessive drinking can impair judgment and lead to reckless behavior.

Choosing the Right Games

With an array of games ranging from slots to table games like blackjack and roulette, deciding where to start can be daunting. To maximize your enjoyment and chances of winning, consider the following tips:

Know the Odds

Different games offer varying odds of winning, so take the time to understand the probabilities before placing your bets. Games like blackjack and baccarat typically have better odds for players compared to slot machines.

Start Simple

For beginners, it’s wise to start with straightforward games that require minimal skill or strategy. Slot machines, for example, are easy to learn and offer the possibility of substantial payouts with minimal effort.

Practice for Free

Many online casinos offer free versions of their games, allowing you to practice and familiarize yourself with the rules before playing for real money. Take advantage of these opportunities to hone your skills and build confidence.

Set Limits

Determine your betting limits before sitting down at a table or inserting money into a slot machine. Setting both win and loss limits can help you manage your bankroll effectively and prevent impulsive decisions.

Explore New Horizons

While it’s essential to stick to games you’re comfortable with, don’t be afraid to try something new. Exploring different games can add excitement to your casino experience and broaden your gambling repertoire.

Casino Etiquette

Etiquette Tip Description
Respect Personal Space Maintain a respectful distance from other players and avoid overcrowding at tables or machines.
Tip the Dealers Tipping the dealers is customary, especially when you’re winning. It’s a sign of appreciation for their service.
Follow Dress Codes Some casinos may have dress codes, so dress appropriately to avoid being denied entry to certain areas.
Avoid Using Electronic Devices at Tables Refrain from using smartphones or other electronic devices at gaming tables to minimize distractions.
Be Mindful of Smoking Areas If you’re a non-smoker, be aware of designated smoking areas and choose gaming areas accordingly.

Exploring Beyond the Gaming Floor

While gambling is a central attraction, modern casinos offer a myriad of amenities and entertainment options beyond the gaming floor. Take advantage of these amenities to enhance your overall experience:

  1. Dining: Indulge in a culinary adventure at the casino’s restaurants, ranging from gourmet fine dining to casual eateries offering quick bites.
  2. Shows and Events: Many casinos host live entertainment events, including concerts, comedy shows, and theatrical performances. Check the schedule for upcoming events during your visit.
  3. Spa and Wellness Facilities: Treat yourself to a relaxing spa treatment or unwind in the sauna after a day of gaming excitement.
  4. Shopping: Explore the boutiques and shops within the casino complex, where you can find everything from designer fashion to unique souvenirs.

Conclusion

Visiting a casino for the first time can be a thrilling experience filled with excitement and anticipation. By familiarizing yourself with the casino environment, choosing the right games, and exploring the various amenities available, you can make the most of your visit and create unforgettable memories. Remember to gamble responsibly, set limits, and above all, have fun! Whether you’re drawn to the flashing lights of the slot machines or the strategic challenge of table games, the casino offers something for everyone. So, step onto the casino floor with confidence, and may Lady Luck smile upon you!

Vince McMahon files 29-page motion to force binding arbitration clause in Grant’s NDA

Former TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon filed a 29-page motion with the United States District Court of Connecticut to force a binding arbitration clause which was included in the NDA which Janel Grant signed back in 2021.

In the motion, McMahon’s legal team refuted Grant’s outlandish claims in the lawsuit, arguing that she was not really in financial difficulties, lived with her boyfriend in a luxury tower in Stamford during their relationship, and was not the caregiver for her parents as her father passed away two years before the two met and he was listed as widowed, which means that her mother passed away before.

The NDA included a clause that if the need arises for a dispute, it would have to be through arbitration and McMahon’s team are fighting that Grant broke the NDA by exposing their relationship and said agreement.

“Plaintiff was represented by a lawyer who negotiated the Agreement for her before she executed it. When Defendant learned that Plaintiff, despite her promises, had violated the Agreement by wrongfully disclosing both the existence of the Agreement and their relationship, he exercised his contractual right to withhold payment otherwise owed under the Agreement,” the motion said.

McMahon stopped paying what Grant was entitled to in the NDA and then filed this lawsuit against him, WWE, and John Laurinaitis.

Priest said one night last year Jey beat him so bad he had to approach him in the locker and gained all his respect and Jey told him they were next, and he is proud to stand in this ring with him. Priest said he was half right and only one of them was next. But Jey will be the first to fall and be the first in a long line of who the machine is going to feed him to make him look good as champion.

Jey stops him from leaving and tells him I am not getting fed to you, you are getting fed to me. JD McDonagh comes in and tries to attack Jey, but Damian warned Jey and Jey went to superkick JD but hit Damian.

He said that also means for over 2 years he was walking with a huge target on his back and to Sami Zayn he says thank you. He then declared his participation for the upcoming King of the Ring Tournament. He then put all the champions on notice.

Once in the back Kaiser catches up to Gunther and said see I told you I would get it done. Gunther nods in approval.

Andrade talks and says The Judgment Day did not want a business partner and no one tells him what to do.

Chad said he wasted his time training Sami, and he has been training a bunch of losers. He then called Tozawa a loser, called Maxxine dumb as a box of rocks and he turned to Otis and said don’t even get me started on you. Chad said Otis is the biggest disappointment of them all.

Chad said we are going to move on from this and concentrate on Gable and you are going to help me no matter what. He forced Otis to say no matter what.

Nia Jax was part of the final three and both Morgan and Lynch teamed up to eliminate her, finally getting her out of the match following a codebreaker from Morgan and a legdrop from the second rope by Lynch.

This is the seventh world title for the Irish Lass Kicker, who celebrated her victory with the fans in the stands, ending the night holding a sign saying, “Women run the WWE.”

Writing on X, Lynch wrote, “The Man is back where she belongs, as your Women’s World Champion. #AndNew”
