After being pulled from the Sunday non-televised live event show, WWE Superstar Emma received more bad news today as her back injury will require surgery.
The Australian Emma is suffering from a ruptured disc in her back and the timing couldn’t be worse as she was just placed in an angle with her sidekick Dana Brooke against Becky Lynch. Emma undergoes surgery tomorrow.
“I’m pretty gutted about my injury, and of course, the timing! But all the love and support going into surgery Wednesday helps. Thanks,” she wrote on Twitter.
Emma has flip-flopped between the main roster and NXT for a while and finally found a gimmick that seemed to be working and was called back to the main roster this year.
WWE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vince McMahon sold 2,191,894 shares of WWE’s Class A common stock, netting him nearly $40 million according to the 8-K document filed yesterday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The shares sold represent around 6% of the company’s outstanding shares of Class A common stock. McMahon owns 37,080,747 shares of the Company’s Class B common stock, around 86% of the Company’s total voting power and approximately 48.8% of the Company’s total outstanding shares of common stock.
The filing says that other than this sale, there are no plans to sell any more shares and intends to continue in his capacity as the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for the foreseeable future.
The reasoning behind the sale was listed as, “estate planning purposes for the benefit of Mr. McMahon and certain members of Mr. McMahon’s family.”

Up next is the contract signing for the Women’s Championship Match at Extreme Rules between Charlotte and Natalya!
Commercials.
Segment #8: Arena Promo
Shane and Stephanie are in the ring, and both compete for the fans’ attention first. Steph then goes to announce Charlotte, but Charlotte’s father, Ric Flair, interrupts and introduces his daughter himself. The Women’s Champion struts out with her father. She takes in the adoration of “Flair Country” from the fans, and wants to get going, but Shane informs her of the other person who needs to be involved.
Natalya is brought out, and she criticizes Charlotte for the ways she has kept her Women’s Championship lately. Natalya says that she is not the Charlotte she first met in NXT, where Charlotte won their Women’s Championship against Natalya in a fair-finish. WWE.COM is reporting that Emma has suffered a back injury at last night’s non-televised live event in Charlottesville, Virginia. “WWE.com has learned that Superstar Emma suffered a back injured last Sunday night during a WWE live event and is currently undergoing tests to determine the extent of her injuries,” the short statement read.
Emma did not actually wrestle during the show as the women’s match featured Paige, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks taking on Lana, Eva Marie, and Dana Brooke. Emma is in a program with Dana Brooke at the moment so it could be that her injury occurred before the show and she was replaced.
The angle with the duo against Becky Lynch was expected to continue tonight on Monday Night Raw with the WWE website planting some rumors about Lynch getting some help to even the odds. With the back injury now public it’s highly unlikely that Emma will be part of any action tonight.
NBCUniversal held its yearly Cable Upfronts event today in New York at the Radio City Music Hall and this year WWE’s presence was rather minimal.
Only WWE Superstars John Cena, Nikki Bella and her retired sister Brie were present for the Upfronts and WWE was not really mentioned during the two hour presentation to advertisers and media buyers. This year all the NBCUniversal properties – including NBC, E!, USA Network, SyFy etc – had to share the same event rather than each having a separate presentation.
To compare with last year, Chris Jericho, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Titus O’Neil, Natalya, The Bella Twins, Eva Marie, and Hulk Hogan were all present for the show which was held at the Jacob Javits Center.
WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon will be writing a memoir about growing up in the WWE and it will also take a look inside WWE’s incredible history and remarkably contemporary approach to media.
The preview of the book, which will be published by Regan Arts, reads, “Stephanie’s inspirational memoir reveals her life growing up behind the scenes in WWE and the story of her journey to becoming Chief Brand Officer — including her successes and failures in the business world — and valuable advice for anyone working in a challenging industry today. She is also candid about balancing her family life with the intense schedule and demands of WWE.”
McMahon said that she’s thrilled to be able to fulfill a lifelong dream and share her incredible journey in WWE and provide fans an inside look into the company.
Judith Regan, CEO of Regan Arts said, “Stephanie McMahon is one of the great visionaries behind the continuing success of WWE and has navigated the entertaining, treacherous, and awe-inspiring world of Superstars, egos, and drama with style, tremendous skill and dynamic feminine force. And that’s just dealing with her family. That family encompasses everyone in the WWE family worldwide. Her story is Shakespearean in its drama and comedy, and she is in a unique position to share an inside view of one of the world’s most successful organizations. Her story will also motivate you to get off your butt and make magic happen. I love her and you will too when you read her book.”
Regan Arts is the same publishing company behind Ronda Rousey’s book. No release date has been announced for Stephanie’s book, which is also lacking a title at the moment.
Yesterday’s non-televised NXT live event in Portland, Oregon ended with a massive brawl between Samoa Joe and Finn Balor which led to the whole locker room clearing out to separate the two.
The brawl – to advance the storyline between the two heading into the upcoming NXT Takeover event in June – will have some ramifications as NXT General Manager William Regal revealed that on Tuesday morning he will be making an announcement on Facebook Live from the WWE Performance Center that relates to the Takeover main event with a stipulation most likely being added.
This will be the third Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor main event at Takeover shows, with the two already headlining NXT Takeover: London and NXT Takeover: Dallas. You can see the video of the pull-out brawl below.
James Caldwell of the Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that TNA TV production crew has not been paid – again – and the company is way behind payments, going back to the January television tapings.
Caldwell said that those production members who inquired about payments “have been met with resistance” and then to make matters worse they were told that some of them might be replaced with independent production workers for the next television tapings in June.
TNA has a history of being late with payments with 2015 especially being one big disaster as both talent and production had to wait months to get paid by the company. Some left and some decided to stay hoping that better days are in TNA’s future. The TNA top brass as well as those loyal talent have been going on Twitter saying that despite the rumors, morale in TNA is super high however those statements seem to lack the opinion of those who are not getting paid.
The company is currently trying to find a strategic partner who is willing to pump in millions of dollars so the company can stay afloat without being sold outright to a different company.
Raw ring announcer Lilian Garcia addressed the rumors that have been swirling around for the past few days that she has been released from WWE. “That’s when I knew I had to set the story straight,” Garcia said after she woke up this morning to see her name trending on Twitter.
Lilian said that her father has been battling bladder and myeloma cancer and a due to a reaction to chemotherapy he became very ill over the past two weeks. Her father also had to undergo two emergency procedures on his kidneys and WWE gave her time off to be with her family and that’s the reason she was not at the Payback pay-per-view and Raw.
She thanked WWE for their support and love and said that they have been constantly checking on her and gave her all the time she needed to be with her father. “I feel so proud to work for a company that cares so much,” she wrote in a post on her Facebook.
“So, on to Monday, I will be back on RAW and couldn’t be happier as I have missed you all very much!! Thank you and I love you,” Garcia concluded.
Impact tapings are returning to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, in June starting with the live Slammiversary pay-per-view with four back-to-back TV tapings.
After TNA holds their yearly June PPV show on June 12, tapings will commence the next day where two episodes per day will be held through Wednesday, June 15. Tapings will start at 6PM ET and doors will open at 5PM ET. The June 14 episode will be taped live for POP TV so it could be that the June 13 show on Monday will be a One Night Only pay-per-view taping unless they will tape shows out of order.
All tapings will be held at Soundstage 20 and admission is free to those who are in the theme park.
TNA Impact is now airing only once on POP TV after the network dropped the Saturday morning replay from its schedule permanently.
Last month POP moved the Impact replay to Saturday morning from Tuesday night immediately following the original broadcast. The move was seen as another nail in the coffin for TNA although those in the company tried to spin it differently.
The Tuesday night ratings have not been spectacular considering that POP TV is in way more homes than Destination America but the audience pretty much remained the same since the move in early January. POP TV is in almost as many homes as Spike TV, a network where TNA pulled in an average of a million viewers every week. That number is now down to between 275,000 and 325,000 weekly.
Former WWE champion Alberto Del Rio and former Divas champion Paige are dating and have been photographed kissing in public and visiting Disney together.
The 15 year difference between the two – Paige is 23 and Del Rio is 38 – doesn’t seem to be affecting the couple and it will be interesting to see if Del Rio will also be part of the upcoming Total Divas season since Paige is one of the main cast members.
Paige was engaged to guitarist Kevin Skaff and her relationship with Skaff was put on display on Total Divas however Paige broke off the engagement and ended her relationship with him.
The two have not yet commented publicly about their relationship. You can see photos of the two together from their Disney trip below.
This week’s episode of Smackdown had an average of 2,262,000 viewers on USA Network, down 84,000 viewers from last week’s show. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)
A psychologist hired by the defense in the Snuka trial told the judge that the former wrestler’s brain “beyond repair” after being damaged badly during his wrestling career and is getting worse by the month thanks to his dementia.
The psychologist, Dr. Frank M. Dattilio, said that Snuka is not fit for trial as he does not understand the legal process and the trial would cause a “severe erosion of his emotional state.”
Judge Kelly L Banach will be hearing expert analysis from the other side as well and The Morning Call newspaper says it is unlikely that the judge will hand down a ruling today.
The hearing continues today at the Lehigh County Courthouse in Allentown, Pennsylvania. You can see the video of Jimmy Snuka making his way in to the courthouse below.
This year’s TNA Slammiversary will be held on Sunday, June 12 and once again TNA will get no gate money for the event as the show has been booked to take place at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
Universal Studios also played host to Slammiversary last year after a three year hiatus when TNA took the show on the road, going to Arlington, Texas twice and once to Boston, Massachusetts. This is actually the sixth time that TNA will be holding Slammiversary at Universal Studios.
The 12th annual pay-per-view show will be headlined by Drew Galloway vs Lashley in a KO or tapout only match for the TNA World Heavyweight title.
Speaking to Rolling Stone for the first time since his WWE release, the man formerly known as Damien Sandow said that he was grateful for the time he spent in WWE and he had four great years.
Talking about how the fans invested in him as a person when he did the Mizdow character, he said that as a performer that’s the only thing you want, fan response, and it was the most satisfying thing.
Sandow revealed that he wasn’t surprised when he got the call that he was being released and has no problem with other guys getting TV time now with less people around. “I am not selfish in that respect,” he said, adding that he doesn’t blame WWE and that they gave him a platform and he maximized his opportunity.
WWE did not give him a reason why he got released and Sandow said they didn’t need to anyway. “When I was being called, I was thinking about the other guy – the guy who has to give a guy this news. I was just more like, “Oh, cool. Thank you for everything. It was awesome.” It was somewhat mutual,” he said.
Asked to elaborate on the mutual part, he said that he had expressed to them that if they didn’t have anything for him then they should give others a chance and even asked if they would like him to transition to commentary. “I just wanted to look into every route that was possible,” Sandow said.

The Associated Press is reporting that a Pennsylvania judge is set to hear testimony today on whether WWE Hall of Famer “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka is mentally competent to stand trial in the death of his mistress Nancy Argentino, who died in 1983.
The former WWE Superstar stands charged with third degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Snuka has already pleaded not guilty. However his attorney says that Snuka, who is 72 years old, is suffering from dementia and post-concussion syndrome and does not understand the charges or even knows that he was arrested. He also has stomach cancer.
The Snuka/Argentino case was re-opened in 2013 by Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin after some excellent work by a couple of journalists working for The Morning Call newspaper who exposed a never-before-seen autopsy report that labeled the death as a homicide.
John Cena will be joining the WWE tour in Japan in two months, a tour that will only last two days with back-to-back shows in Tokyo at the world famous Ryogoku Kokugikan. Unlike last year, these will be non-televised shows. Last year WWE aired the July 4 show from Tokyo on the WWE Network marketed as The Beast in the East with the return of Brock Lesnar to the Land of the Rising Sun.
Two of Japan’s most popular wrestlers – Shinsuke Nakamura and NXT Women’s champion Asuka – will be joining the crew as well even though they are not on the main roster yet. This makes sense considering the huge following the two have over there. Nakamura will be wrestling Bray Wyatt on both days while Asuka will take on Becky Lynch on the first event and Natalya on the second one.
Other Japan favorites – AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson – are also on the tour.
Adam Rose was released from jail after posting a $1,000 bond following the judge’s decision earlier today.
Rose was released at 4:10PM according to the jail records and judging from what happened earlier today he’s going back home thanks to the help from his wife who pleaded with the judge to let him return home.
He remains indefinitely suspended from WWE and will probably stay like that until the case is officially over. He’s already serving a 60 day suspension for a Wellness Program violation and it’s likely that he will be cut once everything is over and done with.
