Ryback in talks with Bellator for MMA shot

Former WWE Intercontinental champion Ryback is in negotiations with Bellator to enter the world of mixed martial arts.

Bellator CEO Scott Coker said that the two sides have spoke about the possibility however there’s “nothing close” to a done deal.

Ryback, who left WWE in August and just recently legally changed his name to Ryback Reeves, would be following in the footsteps of Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, and CM Punk who decided to take a shot inside the cage. Lashley, despite being under contract with TNA, fights for Bellator and has a fight next month for the promotion.

What will a potential TNA sale to WWE mean?

A potential TNA sale to WWE would send shockwaves again, maybe not as much as when WWE bought WCW back in 2001, but regardless, it would be major news for the industry.

TNA’s biggest asset is certainly their video library, with over 10 years worth of footage. With the WWE Network running at full speed, adding a few thousand of more hours to the platform would be a big win for WWE, and eventually the fans.

Unfortunately, if WWE does indeed buy TNA, TNA would be shut down pretty much immediately. What would happen to its big stars would be interesting. Those such as Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Drew Galloway, EC3, Lashley, Aron Rex, and others all left WWE to work for their rivals. Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi have signed last week as well.

When WWE purchased WCW, they carried over some of the deals of certain wrestlers as well. They did not include any of their top stars as the preferred to wait out till the deal expires, getting paid to stay at home doing nothing.

Perhaps the biggest winner of them all would be NXT which would no doubt see an influx of talent arriving. And with Raw and Smackdown now separate, adding more talent to the roster would not hurt either.

WWE bought WCW for around $4 million and their pay-per-view and television library was far more vast and deep than that of TNA. WCW also had some worthy intellectual property which WWE benefited from, something that TNA severely lacks.

By no means WWE is certainly buying TNA. Billy Corgan could eventually pull a rabbit out of the hat and manages to convince Dixie Carter to sell him everything in return of financing Bound For Glory and the subsequent television tapings.

There are pros and cons to both scenarios but a WWE sale would mean a lot of people would be losing their jobs and no alternative for those who want to escape WWE land. A Billy Corgan sale would mean that TNA survives another day, but in the long term, without some serious financing, they will find themselves in the same position down the road.

TNA on the brink of collapsing

This week could be a very interesting one for TNA and the world of professional wrestling as there are strong rumors that TNA is on the brink with the clock ticking down and fast.

Carter’s majority ownership could be well over before Bound For Glory occurs this weekend and if it doesn’t, there could be some serious problems going forward, mainly financial.

Mike Johnson over at PWInsider.com is reporting that Carter, who has already stepped down as TNA President, has held talks with WWE over a probable sale as the future with her in charge look bleak.

Carter, as the largest owner of TNA, calls the shots and coughs up the money but there are those who are saying that TNA has no money to put up this Sunday’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view. Their current President, Billy Corgan, can pay, but he has no majority ownership and he’s been pushing to have 100% stake in the company. Corgan already dug TNA out of a hole earlier this year when he financed several television tapings and got the role of TNA President in return.

TNA’s production company Aroluxe often don’t get paid and the lack of payments eventually landed them a minority stake in TNA. Aroluxe had a deal where they could buy the company but that exclusive deal expired.

Apart from the live Bound For Glory pay-per-view, TNA also has days worth of television tapings that will follow so money is not only needed for BFG, but for the tapings as well. If somehow TNA manages to survive and enough money is secured to produce Bound For Glory, there could be reruns or other type of programming instead of fresh television tapings while more funding is received, although that would not be ideal.

Will Corgan save the show and gets complete ownership of TNA? Or will Dixie Carter sell to someone else, like WWE? Carter has been reluctant to give up her stake in the company but it looks like this time around there’s no saving her.

Sunny’s latest mugshot published online

Tammy Synch’s latest portrait from jail was released online after Ryan Satin of ProWrestlingSheet.com obtained it.

The WWE Hall of Famer looked unimpressed and lightyears away from her glory days in WWE in her mugshot after she was arrested on Friday night around 10:30PM. Sytch is believed to have violated one of the terms of her 5-year probation although at this point it is still unclear why she was arrested.

Sunny spent the weekend locked behind bars as her name is not on any papers to see the judge. She was lucky to avoid jail time last time around after a judge sentenced her to 90 days in jail but ruled that her 97 days she spent in rehab can be used as jail credit. She was facing up to 270 days in jail for 3 DUI arrests.

You can see her new mugshot below.

D-Von Dudley starts new job with WWE

The Dudley Boyz may be done in the WWE but at least one half of the team, D-Von, found a new job within the company.

The former multiple-time tag team title holder is now an agent/producer backstage, dropping the tables in favor of papers! D-Von had his first official day on the job yesterday at Clash of Champions.

“GOOD LUCK to my brother @TestifyDVon today. You’re gonna do a great job!! VERY HAPPY for you,” Bubba Ray tweeted. Ray is rumored to be returning as a solo wrestler with his bully gimmick similar to the one he had in TNA.

On the Raw the day after SummerSlam, the Dudley Boyz announced that they would be departing WWE and cut a speech in the ring before being interrupted by The Shining Stars and later attacked by Gallows and Anderson, sending D-Von through a table with the Magic Killer.

Cesaro after botched suicide dive: “I’ll be OK”

Cesaro’s suicide dive on Sheamus last night at Clash of Champions almost had a disastrous ending as Cesaro nearly broke his neck when landing.

Cesaro dipped his head as soon as he went flying through the ropes, giving Sheamus no time to adjust to try and break his fall. Cesaro landed awkwardly on his neck and Sheamus immediately grabbed him upon landing to check that he’s okay.

“Thanks for all the messages. I’ll be ok. The sadness over the way the match ended overshadows my neck pain,” Cesaro wrote on his Twitter.

The final match of the best-of-seven series between the two ended in a no contest due to “injuries” that the two sustained during the match.

WWE announces new television deal in Germany

WWE and 7Sports, the parent company of ProSiebenSat1, today announced a new multi-year agreement to televise Raw and SmackDown in German on ProSieben MAXX, beginning in April 2017. This marks the first time both shows have aired on the same free-to-air channel in Germany.

“We are proud that we were able to secure this deal for ProSieben MAXX,” said Zeljko Karajica, CEO, 7Sports. “This gives us the opportunity to extend our WWE coverage and make sports entertainment even more popular in Germany.”

Ed Wells, WWE Executive Vice President, International, said that ProSieben MAXX shares their same vision and passion for engaging and entertaining WWE fans. “This partnership creates one primary destination in ProSieben MAXX for fans to enjoy our unique blend of action-packed, family entertainment.”

ProSieben MAXX has aired SmackDown since April 2014. The station will also serve as a marketing partner for the upcoming WWE Live tour in Germany in November.

Two champions the underdogs for tonight’s Clash of Champions according to bookies

Kevin Owens is the overwhelming favorite to keep the WWE Universal title tonight at Clash of Champions, with odds at 1/10 while Rollins is at a distant 11/2. Also favorite to keep her Women’s title is Charlotte at 30/100 while her opponents Sasha Banks and Bayley are at 9/2 and 5/1 respectively.

The newly crowned Cruiserweight champion TJ Perkins is perhaps the most favorite of the bunch today at 1/12 to retain, with Brian Kendrick at 6/1 to win. The bookies however think that Rusev’s United States title reign ends tonight with 11/2 odds to retain and Reigns favorite at 1/10 to win the title. The New Day are also losing the titles according to the odds, with the longest reining WWE tag team title holders at 7/2 to retain and Gallows and Anderson at 1/6 to win.

In the non-title matches, Sami Zayn is at 1/6 to defeat Chris Jericho at 7/2, Sheamus at 4/9 to win the best-of-seven series with Cesaro at 13/8, and Nia Jax stands at 1/12 to annihilate Alicia Fox who is at 6/1.

Pictorial and Q&A interview of the Bella Twins from Muscle & Fitness

As noted earlier, the Bella Twins are currently featured on the cover of Muscle & Fitness magazine, the first time in 78 years that twin women are gracing the cover of publication and the first time in over 20 years that female athletes are also on the cover.

Apart from the usual eye-popping photo spread, there’s also a Q&A with Nikki and Brie regarding WWE, injuries, food, workouts, and more. The duo also share their fitness secrets with Muscle & Fitness and there’s a small write up on the upcoming Total Bellas show on E! which debuts next month.

The magazine also has two pull-out posters of Nikki and Brie in the same gym wear that they posed with for the cover.

Brock Lesnar goes 2-0 on Orton at live WWE event in Chicago

Brock Lesnar got the second win over Randy Orton in as many months yesterday during a non-televised live event in Chicago.

The match was a no disqualification one and Orton attacked Lesnar during his entrance when he ran through the crowd and hit Lesnar with a chair. Lesnar went for an F5 quickly but Orton countered into an RKO on the chair. Eventually the beast incarnate hit an F5 on Orton to cover him for the pin.

Lesnar vs Orton did not main event the show as the WWE Universal title triple threat match between Owens, Rollins, and Zayn did.

You can see a video of the full match below.

Brock Lesnar takes on Randy Orton tonight in Chicago

WWE fans attending the non-televised live event in Chicago, Illinois tonight will see a SummerSlam rematch between Randy Orton and former WWE and UFC champion Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar very rarely does appearances at house shows however he’s been brought in for larger markets such as New York and Los Angeles before. The match will probably headline the event, an event which also has Roman Reigns vs Rusev, The New Day vs Gallows and Anderson, and other matches involving the WWE Universal champion Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Charlotte, Cesaro, and others.

Tickets for this show at the Allstate Arena are still available at Ticketmaster.com.

Tammy “Sunny” Sytch gets thrown in jail again

ProWrestlingSheet.com is reporting that Tammy “Sunny” Sytch has been arrested in Pennsylvania for violating her parole.

The WWE Hall of Famer was arrested around 10:30PM EST by Carbon County officers although it’s not clear what part of her parole she violated.

In August, she got lucky in court after the judge sentenced her to 90 days in jail but ruled that her 97 days that she spent in rehab can be used as jail credit. However he handed down a 5-year parole with bi-weekly alcohol testing, 125 hours of community service and a fee of $2,100. The judge also warned her that there will be zero tolerance this time around and he would throw her back in jail on her first run-in with the law.

Sunny was facing up to 270 days in jail – 90 days for each DUI violation – had the judge imposed the maximum sentence.

Clash of Champions 2016 predictions

Not to be confused with the mobile game “Clash of Clans”, Raw’s first solo-PPV of the new era is this Sunday, with the title-heavy Clash of Champions.

WWE Universal Championship: Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins
It feels like it was only a month ago that fans in Brooklyn were booing the red belt and celebrating Finn Balor winning the belt with an injured shoulder. Since then, Kevin Owens has become the second/first (depending on how WWE wants to paint it!) champion, with the unanswered question of “why did Triple H help him?” casting a shadow over it all.

In his new role as a babyface, Rollins really should be chasing the title, and certainly shouldn’t be winning the belt in his first shot against a heel champion. On paper, this could be a sleeper match. Prediction: Kevin Owens

WWE United States Championship: Rusev (c) vs. Roman Reigns
Will we actually see this match? At SummerSlam, it was dumped off an overly-long card, with a pre-match beatdown forcing an injury postponement. As opposed to a forfeit or anything else…

Since then, Roman Reigns has been flirting more with the Universal championship, and actually picked up a win over Kevin Owens this past week on Raw in a cage match. So why is he fighting for the US title? Rusev remaining as champion would make sense, but I’m not too sure if this is going to remain their long-term plan – particularly since all signs seem to point to a three-way program for the Universal title… because that type of match isn’t getting done to death lately! This feels like a pick ‘em, but I’m not picking a title change. Prediction: Rusev

WWE Cruiserweight Championship: TJ Perkins (c) vs. Brian Kendrick
It’d be fair to say that WWE stumbled with their launch of the Cruiserweights on Raw. Somehow, someone thought it’d be a good idea to debut them without showing the champion, and have a long talking segment with Mick Foley as a set-up. Yeah…

Anyway, so in light of that, Brian Kendrick won a four-way against Cedric Alexander, Gran Metalik and Rich Swann on Raw. Which is weird as hell to type, but it happened. Unfortunately, we got none of Kendrick’s back-story in that match, or the “this is my last chance” storyline that ran through Kendrick’s Cruiserweight Classic run. So at best, he’s a guy that casual fans may vaguely remember… and at worst, he’s “that jobber from seven years ago”.

Fortunately, this being on a pay-per-view, we should at least get some time devoted to this match, but the one nagging worry I have is that Brian Kendrick worked the most “traditional WWE style” of the entire division. So this may be cruiserweight in terms of size, but I’m not expecting anything to come close to what we saw in last week’s finals. Unless Brian Kendrick’s found a way to turn back the clock sixteen years. Prediction: TJ Perkins. The E500 Ride on cart comes in two colours: Red and Blue with an optional accessory of a fully custom fit rain cover for those wetter days on the links.

WWE Raw Women’s Championship: Charlotte (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley
The undecided women’s title match: at first, it was going to be Charlotte vs. Sasha in a SummerSlam rematch. Then, that match got pulled, and Sasha won a triple-threat to reclaim her spot. Except the finish to that match was a missed double-pin, and Bayley was added to the title match.

Since her call-up after SummerSlam, Bayley’s risked becoming an afterthought, particularly once Sasha Banks’ return from injury was confirmed. Having her win the belt here won’t solve anything, but at the same time, given that the long-term feud seems to be Charlotte vs. Dana Brooke, I fully expect Dana to get involved and perhaps cost Charlotte the match. Prediction: Sasha Banks

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship: The New Day (c) vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson
This feels like a stale feud, and with Raw having precious few in the way of heel tag teams, we’re either getting this or the Shooting Stars. As if. New Day have the record of longest reigning tag team champions in their sights, which should give the Raw crew time to come up with some viable heel teams. Prediction: The New Day

Cesaro vs. Sheamus – Best of Seven Finals
With an unspecified “championship opportunity” on the line here, of course their best of seven series ended up tied at three wins a piece! Earlier in the series, rumours flew around speculating on Cesaro’s contract status, and that could swing the result, much like the Cruiserweight Classic. Right now we’re predicting the Universal and United States champions to be heels, which’d really point towards Cesaro winning. So that’ll be our pick. Prediction: Cesaro

Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho
In the latest chapter of “Sami Zayn beat Kevin Owens at Battleground, but they had no future plans for him”, Zayn’s up against Kevin Owens’ “best friend” in the only match on the main card that has no clear championship implications. Depending on which Chris Jericho we get, we’ll either have a good match, or a frustrating affair which will do neither man any favours. This is another pick ‘em, but I’ll go for Sami Zayn, just in the name of building up a future babyface contender. Prediction: Sami Zayn

Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox
This pre-show match stems from a backstage segment where Alicia Fox accidentally-but-legitimately threw a tissue box in Nia’s face, following one of Nia’s squash matches on Raw. Deservedly on the pre-show, a win for either woman isn’t going to put them anywhere close to the title picture, unless they suddenly develop an affinity for Charlotte… likewise, I don’t expect this to go long. Jax’s entire act so far has been based on squash matches, and Alicia Fox on a pre-show is the wrong person and place to start changing. Prediction: Nia Jax

TNA Grand title final to be held at Bound For Glory

The TNA Grand championship final will be held at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view, which will be held at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida on October 2.

The final will be contested between former TNA champion Drew Galloway and new arrival Aron Rex, the man formerly known as Damien Sandow in the WWE. The Grand title will be replacing the King of the Mountain title, which has been retired already.

The Rex vs Galloway match brings up the total of matches to six for Bound For Glory. Joining this match are Lashley vs EC3 for the TNA title, Decay vs The Hardys for the TNA Tag Team titles in a falls count anywhere match, Moose vs Mike Bennett, Maria vs Gail Kim for the TNA Knockouts title, and the Bound For Gold Gauntlet match.

Cody unveiled during Impact, to make debut at Bound For Glory

Going just by his first name of Cody, former WWE Superstars Cody Rhodes made his TNA debut in a taped promo yesterday on Impact, announcing his arrival and his in-ring debut at the upcoming Bound For Glory pay-per-view next month.

The promo was shot like a commercial with a background song similar of that from an action movie. Cody is shown walking towards a sports car and is not fully revealed until the last 10 seconds of the video.

“You don’t know a man until you walk a mile in his shoes. I learn more about me every day. With every mile. My past is just that. My story is being written one step at a time,” he says in the voice over. “My future is decided by the roads I take. I’m bound for a new adventure. Where I’m going there is gold, there is glory, because for me, all roads lead to…Bound For Glory.”

TNA is using the hash tag #GameChanger to promote Cody’s arrival to the company. This will be the first non-WWE tied promotion that Rhodes has wrestled for ever since started wrestling.

You can see the promo below.

Former TNA and WWE star Kia Stevens cast in Netflix’s G.L.O.W.

The casting for Netflix’s upcoming wrestling series G.L.O.W. continues as seven new cast members have been announced according to Deadline Hollywood, including former TNA and WWE star Kia “Kharma/Awesome Kong” Stevens.

Britt Baron will play Justine, a teenage runaway. Jackie Tohn is Melrose, a Hollywood party girl. Kimmy Gatewood and Rebekka Johnson play Stacey and Dawn, best friends and hairdressers. Kate Nash is Rhonda, a British print model. Sunita Mani will play Arthie, a med student with Hollywood dreams, and Kia Steven is Tammé, an 80’s TV actress who is always the guest star, never the star.

Alison Brie, Marc Maron and Betty Gilpin were the first three cast members announced for the series which will tell the fictionalized story of Ruth, an out-of-work actress who finds one last chance to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers. It is based on the promotion Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling which ran between 1986 and 1992.

Earlier this month, Chavo Guerrero was hired as the wrestling trainer for the cast.

Bella Twins’ Muscle & Fitness magazine cover revealed

For the first time in 76 years, there are twin women gracing the cover of Muscle & Fitness magazine and that honor goes to Nikki and Brie, the Bella Twins. They’re also the first female athletes on the cover in 20 years.

The duo are on the October 2016 edition to promote the start of Total Bellas and Total Divas, hitting E! next month. The cover has the twins showing their abs with the headline “WWE & TV Stars: Bellas, 10-Page Exclusive with 12 pics!” There’s also a photo of Daniel Bryan, Brie, Nikki, and John Cena at the top of the cover.

The two have already appeared on the Muscle & Fitness Hers magazine cover, along with other WWE Superstars like Eva Marie, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks. Triple H was the last WWE guy to appear on the cover of Muscle & Fitness magazine in April of this year to promote WrestleMania 32. In December 2014 he was appointed as the Editorial Advisor for the magazine. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was on the cover of the September edition.

You can check out the cover below.
