Bruno Sammartino declines latest attempt for WWE Hall of Fame

Rumors of Bruno Sammartino being inducted in next year's Hall of Fame went wild this week on the Internet and Sal Corrente, who represents Sammartino, issued a statement regarding the rumors.

"Since word has broken publicly, I can confirm that we have been contacted," Corrente wrote. "I have been asked by Bruno Sammartino to announce that he will NOT be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013."

WWE has tried for years and years to get Sammartino - the longest champion in the company's history - into their Hall of Fame. However Sammartino doesn't really like the company and turned down the opportunity to get in the HOF several times.

Sammartino has often publicly stated that he doesn't watch WWE and doesn't know who the current Superstars are. He has been vocal against Vince McMahon and the way he ran the company when he took over from his late father.

Meanwhile, it seems that Triple H was the one who tried to talk to Sammartino into changing his mind and accept their offer to headline the Hall of Fame next year. Online reports suggested that Bruno didn't like Triple H and it was because of him that he didn't accept.

Corrente once again issued another statement to shoot down this false rumor.

"That is an absolutely false statement Bruno had no issue what so ever with Triple H. He liked Triple H and enjoyed their conversation but for reasons personal to Bruno he has decided not to accept the induction," the statement said, adding that in no way, shape, or form, the refusal is a reflection of the meeting with Triple H.
