WrestleMania 37 host SoFi Stadium announces delay in construction and opening

The SoFi Stadium, the planned host of WrestleMania 37, announced that there will be a delay in the opening of the facility due to the COVID-19 situation.

In a statement released yesterday, SoFi Stadium said, “These are trying and uncertain times for all. As we navigate this station, under guidance from federal, state, and local officials, the safety and health of all involved with SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park remains the top priority in everything we do.”

The stadium also cancelled the July 25 and 26 Taylor Swift Lover Fest tour which was supposed to be the inaugural event held inside the brand new $5 billion facility. It is being rescheduled for 2021.

Workers on site helping in the construction of the stadium tested positive for the coronavirus which slowed down the completion of the giant project, which also hurts for any of them new to the industry and understanding how to get into construction.

Earlier this week, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti indicated that “large gatherings such as concerts and sporting events may not be approved in the city for at least one year,” in an e-mail reviewed by the Los Angeles Times.
